We’ve only just stopped talking about San Francisco and its its race week! We’re really spoilt these days as triathlon fans…
Watched it this morning. Did anyone else find it odd that it was basically a recap of San Fran and not much about Vancouver?
Yes, I felt the same way when I watched it. Only a few minutes of it was spent talking about the Vancouver race.
It is amazing how much coverage we have these days. So many races to follow and so much live coverage. As an old bastard, I remember when we had to wait weeks to read about races in magazines and even then, the actual race reports were pretty thin so I am a happy Triathlon fan these days for sure.
Misrepresented as a ‘Countdown to Vancouver’. 15 minutes regurgitation and chat from SF and then a final minute with a few shots of Van and PF home girl words.
I appreciate they haven’t captured the content yet but we need some Hidalgo and Kingma coverage, a bit more Findlay, some Lawrence mum stuff, Bergere (newly wed?) back for a bite, even some Lengthy yo’ing, and some course vignettes.
I fervently hope we see a 2022/23/24 Gentle back in the mix. Sad Duffy can’t be fit in time.
A lot of the T100 YT content, is repackaged old stuff, I suppose they’re trying to get something viral by a lucky break in an algorithm or something (not sure how these things work)
Im sure better content through the week when athletes start arriving.
Speaking of Triathlons in Vancouver…The Vancouver International Tri 1987
Slightly off topic, but does anyone know why the pre-race start lists and strength of field have disappeared from the PTO site for all races besides T100?
Did Ironman tell them to stop and now they just don’t bother for Challenge and independent races?
I liked looking at that as a preview for a race.
I don’t know (have asked).
Recommend Thorsten’s site for an excellent preview. He gets start lists of the higher tier races direct from all the players and publishes them and then converts to ‘seedings’ and finally to results. Here’s Cairns.

India Lee is out…Too sick to get on the plane…That sucks.
Thorsten has just published his ‘seedings’:

New boys:
Has Hidalgo in #3. Based on sparse evidence: his win in 3:31 in 70.3 Brasilia 9 weeks ago. Mind you given first WTCS win in Alghero, anything is possible.
Bitados down in #7. He won the IM Pro Series 70.3 in Venice last month, also in 3:31, not forgetting as well as the Tallinn win last August).
For Long, a gap of less than 3 minutes at T1 is ahead of form.
Pack of 15 exiting the swim: long train for the first lap of the bike at least.
Madsen is a DNS too (same reason: sick).
I note that Diederiks has been called up.
Start list:
That is a shame…
On a positive note though,it will be another great weekend of late nights watching stuff. This time though, I can’t sleep during the day 'cause Cairns is in my time zone.
Maya Kingma is definitely going to feature, with a front pack swim and an absolute weapon of a bike.
Totally agree into T2 but possibly not at the finish line. She has been injured and not done a lot of running.
The big question is how will Knibb react if she is beaten again.

Taylor seems to be following her coach’s plan which I believe is primarily aimed at doing well in Kona this October. I’m sure it stings a bit to have her unbroken win streak ended but she seemed quite pragmatic after her San Francisco loss. Whatever the case, it will be very exciting watching Saturday’s race play out. I’m expecting LCB and Learmonth to go at the swim with extreme gusto daring anyone to hold on to their toes.
