2025 Concerts

My kid went to Ghost at the TD Garden Monday night. I was originally supposed to go with them. Then it was their boyfriend, but he couldn’t make it, so the wife went.

They tried to buy Sleeptoken tickets for this fall, but the cheapest, nosebleed tickets were $$$$ in the pre-sale and sold out in minutes for the general sale. But that was at the DCU center/old Worcester Centrum which is a lot smaller than the garden, but only a 5 minute drive from home.

Ghost is incredible live.

We have Simple Plan coming up. Been a while since I have been to a show, so looking forward to it. More my wife’s style of music, but a good show is a good show.

Lucy Dacus(?), tonight in… VT.
I somehow agreed to drive up and back with my daughter - ~14 hours of driving for 2 hours of music.

DMB @ Gorge, with Goose opening 1 night.

FB post today from Garbage… Am I reading too much into this or does this sound like a “farewell tour” type announcement?

"Yesterday saw the commencement of rehearsals for our last North American headline tour this fall. We haven’t played an extensive headline tour in the States for almost a decade. If the truth be told, it is unlikely we will play many of the cities on this tour ever again.

We are going out on the road with the spectacular Starcrawler, fronted by superstar Arrow De Wilde, who is one of the most exciting front people of her generation.

We are going out in style and we hope you will join us. That’s life my friends.

Nothing stays the same forever. Everything must change.

All beautiful things end.

We love you.

  • From all of us in garbage"

I went to a show last night. All squarely my wife’s music, but I certainly have listened to all of their music.

Headliner was Simple Plan. Opener LOLO followed by 3oh!3 and Bowling for Soup.

LOLO is a great act. Before the show I would have told you I would never spend $10 to see just 3oh!3, but they put on a great show.

Bowling for Soup and Simple Plan were great. Tons of energy and great show.

The NIN tour has been on my radar but I couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger. Something about revisiting myself in this phase of life doesn’t sit well. But damn it looks like an incredible show.

I saw them live once, from the front of the mud pit at Woodstock 94. Hard to top that.

I ended up selling my tix.
Saw the 2000 tour with A Perfect Circle. One of the besf arena shows I have seen.

For the handful of Frank Turner fans here, he’s bringing his Lost Evenings Festival back to the US next year.

I’d never been to a tribute act show before, but…. My favourite band when I was at college were Marillion, who broke up some time in the late 1980s - or they kept going but without the singer and I never bothered with them.

But I went to a tribute band show that played their early music and they were fantastic - the place was full of old guys who all loved it. I’m still not really a fan of tribute acts, but if the band no longer exists then I think it’s okay - and it seems like this band make a living doing it, so good on them.

Ok, kinda looking forward to 2026, now

I’m hoping to get Toronto tickets.

For now, we are seeing Bryan Adams this weekend, Foreigner shortly after, Tea Party in December, and The Offspring in February.

@RandMart , semi-related question. Have you noticed that Philly is getting skipped in a high percentage of tours lately? I know Rush is doing a smaller tour, so not surprising that Philly isn’t on the list. It just seems like every tour announcement I see lately I look for a Philadelphia show, and it seems like more often than not there isn’t one.

I’ve definitely noticed this lately, both for some high-profile/large acts and smaller ones. Sometimes the nearest options are Bethlehem, Red Bank or Baltimore/Columbia.

That said.. just added Snarky Puppy to the 2026 calendar, at Union Transfer in Philly.

Okay, so I’m not totally making it up in my head!! It’s not like no one is coming here at all, but it seems like a very high number aren’t. It used to be a Philly area show was almost a guarantee for any tour. It’s high enough that I’m wondering if there isn’t something happening behind the scenes with area promoters or something.

I saw a great Fleetwood Mac tribute band on the beach in Charleston two summers ago. They killed it.

If you want to hear great music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, you can pay hundreds of dollars for the cheap seats to see geriatric originals, or you can spend a little, hear the same music played better and have a great time.

GnR, VH/David Lee Roth, Motley Crue et al. made some great party music in their prime. I’d pay to not see them live and ruin the memories. Give me a fun tribute band over those originals any day.

There’s a Van Halen tribute band called Van Halen Nation that absolutely NAIL it. If you squint a little bit, it’s like you’re watching VH in their prime.

Tickets go on sale today and still on the fence. Having seen NIN in 1995 twice - early in the year in support of The Downward Spiral and then later with David Bowie (pit tickets so right up front, fantastic!) - I’m not sure I need to add more memories to those awesome experiences. It doesn’t help that Golden 1 Center is an expensive venue for concerts. It’ll like be a last moment decision….

That’s what I’m talking about. How can you be a Van Halen fan and not wanna see these boys play live? If you showed up at a bar and didn’t know they were playing, it’d be one of the best nights out ever.

That singer is about 97% dead on accurate for Dave’s voice.
