This was snarky and unwarranted. I don’t like to jump the gun. His podcast on fitter radio was outstanding - not just Taupo but everything with his season. I can’t wait to see how his year goes next year.
Nope (and welcome)
Knibb put her socks on, like she always does. And exited about fifth or sixth. And then just blasted up Rifle Range Road catching Perez Sala well before the top.
Key chasers were Simmonds, Gentle who went even harder, exiting T1 behind Matthews, and Findlay. Knibb got away, Simmonds chasing and Matthews then took the lot with Findlay last on her wheel. Gentle burnt matches and couldn’t maintain. Simmonds and Matthews were on 1x’s had to go hard on the hill and then went hard over the top (20k ish). Findlay who had clung on couldn’t hold on (as she relates) and dropped into a three with Perez Sala and another.
Bottom line is Knibb can generate more watts; and what do watts mean? . . . . Gaps. Matthews has to up her bike, as @Ironmandad says in his piece on her. Watch this space. Slight trouble is with Knibb racing T100 we may not see them race one another for months; then again we might hope IM Texas happens.
