I stayed for roll down through 35-39 at IMAC 70.3.
I can tell you that most age groups had minimal roll down. Almost nothing outside of the top 5.
M35-39 had 3 slots and it rolled down to 8th place, which was the deepest I saw. Lucky for me, I was 8th place.

PS. All for WFT, as you can see from the slot allocation there weren't enough women at this event.

An incentive for more registrations for poorly attended races from WTC. If it were legit WFT would have equal spots at all races. The championship race is separated by gender over two days, no reason to have only 54% of women (compared to Men) qualify when they have their own day to race. If they were on the same day I could understand the argument of participation level percentages, but...
70.3 WC had 1778 women and 3261 men on separate days.
Look at Superfrog above, 30 spots for Men, 10 for Women.

I'm not sure that one has to be mutually exclusive of the other. Encouraging female participation is good, goosing the roster at low-turnout races is also good. (As much as I despise Ironman buying out local races, I don't want to see them subsequently get cancelled either.) I don't think it's a case of magical synergy, but I don't see it as purely mercenary either. Calling it "slots for slow women" is a cheap jab, though.
But we digress :o)

WFT was also represented at AZ70.3, which sells out every year.
Speaking of which, anyone have the slot distribution and roll down? My AG was a lot faster this year and I'm trying to make myself feel better about my DNS due to injury if where I expected to finish didn't have a shot at qualifying. (That said, I know at least two AGs rolled to 14th and 16th on the women's side.) Thanks in advance.

I don't know all the details from NC 70.3, but if I recall the only two AG that really rolled were M and F 40-44. Both rolled to 17th (females had 8 spots though). I was 15th on the female side in 5:17. I'll work on my slowness. ;)

Woman’s had better chance yesterday, Female 45-49 rolled down to past 20th place. I don’t remember the others but on the male side it was definitely tighter.

Waco:
M40-44 and M45-49 both had 4 slots and both went to 9th (I got the final M40-44 for 9th place).
No other male AG went anywhere near that far. Nearly all of them stayed top 5. Some went 1-2 or 1-2-3.
They did the 25 women for tri slots after the main slots. They went much deeper. They were generally calling for anyone who finished top 20 in their AG.

Some roll downs in the women's AG before the WFT spots. The only AG I can sort of remember is the M45-49 where there were 4 or 5 spots. 1st & 4th passed.
I took the slot at 2nd, 3rd & 5th took their slots. I know the guy in 7th got a roll down slot as well.

Don't have too many details but I have a friend qualified on the 45-49 AG at Los Cabos. He finished 5th.

To be honest I was a bit surprised but I guess I shouldn't have, if you have the money to go to Los Cabos for a race you probably have the money to go to NZ for Worlds and its still early in the qualifying window. I'd expect most NA based races next year will have deep roll downs.

Don't you think it is the other way around? It is basically, off season for most part of the triathlon community in the US, with virtually no rolldowns on most races. Don't you think that, as the 2020's heats up it shouldn't become any easier to nag a spot? Also, i'm not sure about the money factor regarding racing in los cabos. I'm from Houston and travelling to Los Cabos wouldn't be much more expensive than taking my bike on a plane to race in California, for example.

Historically as you get closer to the race the roll down goes deeper and deeper regardless of the 70.3 WC location, logistics become more and more challenging. My point about traveling and Los Cabos is that nearly everyone at the race was there on "vacation" very few athletes there live there, I could be wrong but I generally feel people typically don't travel as far for the average 70.3 than they do for a 140.6

Any reason Xiamen was so much slower this year? 2018 35-39 4:18 was the last Kona slot and this year the top five went 4:34-4:40.
