Re: A Month of Olympic Tris (30/30) - Who is in on June 1? [madMike100]
Thanks. Yesterday I was mentally fried but it was not from exercise, it was from everything in life. This is when exercise gives me an outlet. I chose "stupidly" (more on that in a second) to bike commute out to swim. Well I had a tailwind from the south west heading over. The swim spot is sheltered largely if the wind stays south, southwest or southeast. Once it is West Southwest if gets wavy. Well I got there and the wind started to move north and suddenly it was straight out of the west. waves turned to whitecaps, kite surfers suddenly emerged from all over (at which point I knew it was no longer going to be a fun mental break from rest of life). I stayed in for what my watch said was 1800m but it does not capture things when I do fly, kick sets, breast stroke, so 38 min later, I packed it in, sick of meandering around kite surfers etc. My bike ride home was into this howling wind which was not adding to my enjoyment/life stress reduction.

By the time I wrapped up my work day it was 7 pm, had a snack, and just laid on the couch trying to decide if a run would happen or not. Finally at 8:30 pm I got my butt off the couch, got to the start line out the front door and head a really pleasant 8 km run catching the sunset. Legs felt awesome. I decided to cut the run short to do some weight training. Body felt good....it was all in my head.

So as of today I am on track on the swim, roughly one Olympic tri bike leg ahead, and around 5km behind on the run. I should shoot ahead on the bike on the weekend, stay on track on the swim and catch up on the run.

Edit: between work + an Olympic tri equivalent per day, it has roughly shaken out to the IC 16 hrs per day program. Its good that Satuday and Sunday its just the 3 hrs per day program. I don't know how that guy handles 16 hrs per day endlessly
