For what its worth, despite some folks like yourself having the some bad luck, literally everyone I know who has tried to move away from Garmin, eventually went back to garmin.

Maybe try a forerunner model instead of a Fenix?

I've been using a 920xt for 5 years now I think, training and racing, pretty much zero issues. I'm tempted to buy something new only because my eyes are having a hard time seeing the screen, but decided to hold off since no racing this year.
