Zwift: manually record laps that show up in Strava

Title explains it. How can this be done? Learned quickly that using my garmin to record laps while in Zwift while using my Kickr causes power drop outs. So, just need to use Zwift or Garmin or Wahoo apps. Strava displays laps when I use the two latter options, but I don’t know how to record laps in Zwift. my coach needs laps…

I know zwift auto-records laps that Connect but not Strava when you build a workout but a) that forces you into erg mode and b) in workout-erg mode in Zwift, if you stop pedaling, it never returns to the set power - example: I was warming up at 180w and stopped, I then did 1 minute at 500-600w and it never readjusted like erg mode with just the Kickr or CT will do, so it wasn’t me, it was Zwift.

anyone? guess I can post in the Zwift stack overflow style website.

man, I hate stack overflow and its equivalents - represents to me the worst customer service possible. of course with R, for which I use it primarily, I can’t really make the customer service complaint, but I digress. Zwift is not open source.

Can you entertain my ignorance and tell me what a power drop out is?

I used Zwift with the lap button in my Garmin tonight and the brake locked up randomly a few times.

I haven’t had my trainer lock up, though the erg mode error when doing a workout in Zwift and you stop pedaling and 90rpm’s = a 550+w effort may be perceived as a brake.

Wahoo did let me know that if not using their Elemnt bike computer which offers a “passive” mode, to only use one device at a time for the kickr. I’m not sure, yet, if that is what caused my issue or not. Here is my strava file. Look at my power data; I had never stopped pedaling, yet you can see the power dropping constantly - no good when you want the award of a pretty graph after a dozen 45sec 7.7w/kg efforts: https://www.strava.com/activities/828665333

Do you have a PM on your bike, independent of Kickr? What I had to do with my garmin (edge 520) was disconnect it from the Kickr so that when i ride Kickr on zwift, I can still record laps on my garmin and get my power from my Quarq. I had to troubleshoot this with Kickr - they recommended not connecting garmin to kickr when using zwift. also got a USB extender for my ant+ which helped with the dropouts as well.

Powertap GS - so no go! But great idea and the reason I’d love to see a beltless, stak zero style electromagnetic system with 35lb steel flywheel with NO power meter - it would just use your crank, pedal or crankarm based PM and get the price under $700

So no manual lap feature in Zwift? If not, Wish you could just create laps in strava post hoc manually!

This is exactly what I do with PowerTap P1’s and a Joule to be able to use it for manual laps while using Zwift.

not that i know of unfortunately. I think there is a place in zwift to recommend enhancements? I could be wrong but it’s worth a shot. I especially wish when you are riding in zwift in workout mode it at least lapped your different intervals.
