Contemplating giving this a go this week.
Would need to run outdoors. Can anyone give me a primer on how that works?
I have a Garmin running watch with GPS. Do I additionally need a footpod if I am outdoors?
Thanks

GPS won’t help or matter at all, for this use case. You just need a footpod that can broadcast to Zwift. Then you run with your phone, which is running Zwift. I know some people who did the dusthlon this way, it works fine.
So I’d need a bluetooth footpod or an ant dongle for the phone?
Yes
.
Though if your Garmin is a 945, I believe it can broadcast running data/pace to Zwift as well. But I’m not 100% on that
Yes, I believe the 945 is Zwift compatible without a footpod, but outside of that, GPS doesn’t matter, it’s zwift compatibility that you need.
Don’t forget to leave your phone screen on the whole time too. If you shut it off, Zwift pauses
Ppl running outside for an program that is designed for indoor usage. I’ve now seen it all.
It’s a chance to race, I mean, I get it.
That being said, I’m not doing the Zwift Duathlon, as I’m hesitant to do that much hard running. But I get the appeal. Plus WTRL has a pretty good track record running events.
If I have to 1) buy a footpod and 2) run with my phone and 3) I’m doing a race that may never have results… I’ll probably skip it and just go run intervals at the track.
