Rant:
4 months ago my new coach gave me a brand new Zoot Zenith 2.0 to try. It was a Small/Tall and was WAY too tight (or I was WAY to fat). I put it to the side and bought a BlueSeventy Helix Medium. Fit like a love and very comfortable.
Flash forward to this morning. I’m bored as I have sworn to myself not to train for 4 days straight (this is day 2) following a mental and physical breakdown during an interval training run. So I thought since I lost about 20 pounds since October, I would try on the Zoot wetsuit again. Disclaimer - I love the whole concept of Zoot and am a very loyal supporter, which is why I am writing this so SDJ can pass the word to the wetsuit design team.
I put on the Zoot Zenith 2 and it fits. REALLY well. The neck line is perfect and the contours match perfectly with my body. Not one wrinkle, even in the shoulders or behind the knee. I take a few practice arm strokes and notice instant discomfort. I peel the Zoot off, put on the BlueSeventy and feel instant comfort, practice strokes and all. Neck line isn’t as good s the Zoot, but no discomfort. No panels like the Zoot, but no discomfort. Not as sexy as the Zoot, but no discomfort.
So what was the discomfort??? Seams. Raised seams. Raised seams at the armpit. The area with the MOST amount of movement.
Zoot - flat seams, like BlueSeventy on the Zoot Zenith 2. Then the wetsuit is perfect. Please!! Oh and before March 27h. You can find me Friday at Oceanside for the personal delivery. Coming by helicopter would be a nice touch.
I think I might have cabin fever…
