Zoot sizing chart experience

I purchased a bunch of stuff from Zoot and I am really surprised how much I am going to need to send back because of fit. It is rare that I need to ever send anything back.

I followed their sizing chart but somehow it did not work out. I am a 31 inch waist. Their chart has 32-34 is a medium. So I purchased medium. My foot is a 9.5 and purchased the recovery sandals in a 10 and they are way too big. Told to buy up a size. I have a tiny head and purchased the Neoprine cap in S/M but it is way too small. Purchased a set of swim jammers in M and they are too small and should have purchased L.

I also purchased a 9.5 in the Ultra TT 2.0 shoes and they are border line too big. I purchased a wetzoot in M and it was super tight but I did not use anything to help lubricate my body before putting it on. So I am not sure. Really like to try in the water to be sure but I don’t believe you can exchange afterwards.

The Zoot Ultra cycling bibs I love. They are a M and probably should exchange for a L but not willing to wait. The Zoot cycling jersey is perfect fit and really, really like the material. Also fits my shoulders really well which is usually a problem with cycling jerseys. It is a M. Really like the Zoot running socks. Will purchase more. I have a 9.5 shoe size and buying socks is difficult because usually either too small or too large. I purchased the small/medium and they are very close to being perfect.

So what I learned

  • With Zoot apparel I should have purchased 1 size larger or a large in anything that goes on bottom half of body. M is perfect for top half only of my body.
  • With Zoot apparel on feet buy smaller than size indicated.
  • With head purchase bigger than you think.
  • Socks are very close to perfect

I did talk to others before purchasing about Zoot running shoe sizing and they indicated that they run consistant with the sizing for Asics Cumulus and Adidas Vomero. But this is not consistant with what I experienced.

Tried the shoes again and they are going back. Will exchange for a 9. I sometimes wear a 10 but never a 9 so this is surprising. But I can’t tighten them enough when I have barefeet to not have them slide around.

Agreed. I was stoked to finally fit into a medium in most clothing, but was bummed to have buy a large in Zoot shorts but a medium in their tri top.

Maybe I have birthing hips…

That’s funny, I am a 32-33 waist and I bought medium shorts, but a large top.
Not chunky by any means, just wasn’t so keen on the breath-reducing squeeze and the 4 inches above the belly button showing

I didn’t get it either. I have a 34 in. waist and a 38 in chest, but seemed to fit better in the large short, medium top

I agree with the shoe sizing, I have a pair of Ultra race which feel big on me and I have to wear socks, and just got the zoot Energy which feels fine if i don’t were socks. It is hard when you don’t have a place to try them on first to know. I like the arch support of the Ultra race better really no arch in the Energy

no expert just my 2 cents

I agree. I have the same size in the Ultra TT and Ultra Race and the Ultra Race feel’s looser, which I am assuming is just less padding and material in the shoes considering it is their “race” version. Either way, I would say a 0.5 down on the shoes if you plan on not wearing socks and want a snug fit. Just my 0.02

I am also 6 feet tall, which I forgot to mention. This might be also why a really need a large in anything for my bottom half.

Most of their clothing is spot on for me, except I am short torsoed and their tops are inevitably too long that way… but I don’t mind b/c they are always cute  … but the shoes…

I talked to the Zoot rep at Buffalo Springs this weekend as I was trying on a pair of the Zoot Ultras and he suggested 1/2 size down from a regular trainer b/c they are designed to be sock free. Makes sense.

I ran in them this morning for a track workout to get used to them, with thin socks, and they felt fine with and without socks.

Not sure if that helps anyone but thought I’d toss it out there.

I was told before I ordered my shoes last year (race and ultra) that I should get them in my street shoe size and not my typical running shoe size. I wear 11’s in Saucony stuff but 10-1/2 in street shoes. So I ordered 10-1/2 in the Zoot stuff and it has been perfect for me.

In the compression socks (which I bought for recovery purposes) I used the chart and ordered size 4. Without even bothering to look at the chart I ordered the recovery tights also in 4 since I had gotten the socks in that size and they fit great. Much to my dismay, I looked at the chart after they had shipped and saw that based on the measurement characteristics that I should have ordered a 3 in the tights. I use the 4, but can tell that they are not quite as snug based on the way the socks feel. My Team Zoot Gu tri suit last year is a L top and bottom and works perfect for me (6’-1" and 170 - 175 depending on time of year).

On topic … my experience with their stuff is that it is true to the charts they list and if anything, size down if you are on the border of the cahrt.
