Was wondering if anyone had any information on the Zoot CompressRx Tri Short. Is it made out of the same fabric as the other compressrx series? How does it retain/shed water? How is the chamois? Is it adequate for iron-distance?
Thanks for the feedback.
I recently got a pair of both the CompressRx tri short and the regular CompressRx short without the chamois. The two shorts are very similar – they’re made out of the same fabric and the only difference I notice is the addition of the chamois in the tri short. There may be other differences that I didn’t notice. Anyhow, both shorts are excellent at not retaining water. It may simply be because the material they’re made from, but I did an hour and a half run in the regular CompressRx short and was happy to discover that the shorts were completely dry at the end. Though Denver, where I live, is fairly arid, all my other shorts end up damp after a long run.
I plan to use the shorts for my IM this year, though I haven’t ridden long in them yet. The chamois seems similar to the one in Zoot’s Ultra shorts, so if those work I’d expect the CompressRx tri shorts to work, too.
Let me know if you have any more questions. I could even pull the shorts out of my drawer to inspect them in more detail.
Full disclosure: I’m on the Zoot Ultra team.
I’ve raced three times in them recently (two HIM, one oly), and am very impressed. The chamois is as comfortable as the Ultra’s, and they’re not overly constrictive like I thought they’d be. They dry very quickly and seem to have a bit of a cooling effect when I soak myself at aid stations.
My legs seemed noticeably fresher than when I wore the Ultra’s, but that could be a fitness factor.
I know that they’re intended to be cut long due to it’s compression features, but I wish they were just a little shorter.
I’ve done a couple centuries in them, so I can’t foresee any issues with them for my two IM’s this year.
