Zogg Predators vs Tyr Special Ops 2.0

anyone have experience with both? I just ordered zoggs and plan on using them on sunday at ironman Raleigh 70.3 ive been using special ops but they are melted and twisted at the nose so I needed a new pair. I am probably going to swim 10-20min using the predators but anyone have thoughts about both or in comparison for open water etc.

Personally, I like both (polarized versions in each). The TYR feels a bit softer/more comfortable, but I like the strap ratchet adjustment of the Zoggs. They both seem to fit about the same “size.”

The new Kaiman Exo’s are hands down the best goggle ever…

You could give them a shot, they’ll be available at the expo!

I am a bit biased though…

If the goggle fits your face and is comfortable, then you have likely found a good goggle for you! Much like other things, fit is important. Try some goggles on, and don’t rely 100% on the “if it doesn’t stick to my face, it won’t work”… Try the goggle on with the strap. Many open water goggles have a larger gasket that may not seal properly without the strap on your head. Also, with larger goggles, you don’t need to crank down on the straps. Light tension is all it takes to get a good seal.

Man those do look good, got some new kayenne I would love to trade and try the evo
.

Spec Ops 2.0 work a bit better for me, personally.

I’ve worn both. I like the Zoggs better. The mirror coating on the special ops flaked pretty quickly considering the cost of them.

I have a need for “wider” goggles. The Special Ops 2.0 work better for me than the Zogg even though I wanted the Zogg to become the one pair does it all.

No experience with the Special Ops, but I just got a couple of pairs of Zoggs (1 Predator polarized, 1 Predator Flex mirrored) and the fit is perfect. I know its importance is increasingly being downplayed, but they’re the first goggles I’ve had that pass the “suction test”. The field of vision is excellent on them too (compared to the Nike Remoras I usually wear).

I have both. I think the TYRs are more comfortable but the Zoggs have better lenses. I tend to use my TYRs mostly for pool swimming these days and my Zoggs for open water since they reflect the sun better. Both are solid and cant really go wrong with either. I just wish the zoggs were cheaper…
