I normally have someone around to help me zip up, but not this time.
Any special tricks to zipping up without help ?
Go old-school and use Pam vegetable oil spray. Spray your legs, arms and shoulders. Carefully pull the suit up. Make sure the suit is up all the way and work the shoulders. Then pull the shoulders up some more. Work the upper arms and shoulders some more and the zipper should pull right up!
The only trick I’ve found is rolling my shoulders back as far as I can get them, then be real patient as it takes me a good handful of attempts before I get the zipper up beyond my shoulder blades without catching that extra flap of neoprene.
I wear an Xterra Vector PRO suit so YMMV.
Would recommend bringing your shoulder blades back together and holding the base of the zipper taught with one hand while you pull the lanyard with the other hand. Some suits are easier than others to get on by yourself, but that works for me.

make a third hand… put in a cuphook or similar that can hold the lanyard, so you can hook the lanyard on there and squat to pull, have two hands free to negotiate the wetsuit flaps etc…

One of many reasons my wife loves my 2 piece DeSoto wetsuit, I can put it on by myself!!

The only trouble I have is when I wear a tri suit or singlet under the wetsuit, the fabric gets caught in the zipper. If you are training this shouldn’t be an issue. What safety measures are you taking swimming alone? My summer camp water safety flag just came up.

Was in your place 3 years ago. I’m in a 2XU-C:2. Impossible to zip yourself up… UNLESS you actually pull the zipper up about 2"-3" before you get in the thing. Then just bend all the way over. Like head down between your knees & pull the string straight up. Towards the sky! Works like a charm!

It’s all about grabbing the base with one hand and pulling up with the other. And roll your shoulders back while you do it.
