Zipp Wheel - valve extenders 'ping, ping' noise

I am sure there are some good ideas out there!!

Have Zipp 404’s with valve extenders. They make a ping ping or ting ting noise when rotating as they are not a snug fit with the hole in the rim.

Any clever ideas bearing in mind we don’t want the bit of card or whatever falling into the hollow rim itself…

Cheers,

K

Take some electrical tape and poke a small hole and then stick the valve hole through it, it will be just tight enough to not make anymore noises. I have to do the same on my Easton wheels.

I used teflon tapes on mine. Put some on the extenders before inserting tires back on to the rim. Not really tight, just enough to put the noise away.

X2 I did this with my Hed wheels and now they are silent.

Another way of fixing this without dismounting the wheel is to just squirt a dab of silicon sealant into that valve/rim junction.

It worked great on my 404 tubulars, and I didn’t have to mess with remounting for a minor annoyance. Silicon
pulls away easily, so the adhesive properties are not a concern and it is invisible.

I think the black electrical tape & hole could be the cleanest - but I’m a disaster with tapes and they never go on straight for me.
About the only bike maintenance I pay for is to wrap my bar tape.

Ha, I always wondered what that noise was. Now it’s going to bother me!! dangit.

a great alternative is the UFO adaptor
