Zipp Vuka aero bars 25mm clamp?

Hi

Does it seem right that a set of zipp vuka aerobars require a 25.4mm stem clamp? If so, anyone know what age this would have been from approx?

Does a “shim” work, or would that cause the bars to slip?

Thanks

I can’t answer your first question, I’m afraid. My Zipp Vuka bars are oversize fitting.

But as for the second question, I would never use a shim on handlebars. The potential for serious injury if it slips is just too great.

Only a few days ago, I hit a pothole on a descent on my TT bike - therefore, at speed - and my aerobars (clip on) slipped just a tiny bit. It was sufficiently terrifying to cause me to get the torque wrench out again and make sure they were tightened to the max.

What age are your zipp vuka aero bars from? Are they the integrated type or the bull base bar with clip ons?

Thanks

They are pretty new - only used about six times so far, which is why they weren’t fully tightened up (stupidly) - but they are the bul base bars.

Very nice kit, I have to say.

Did you actually measure the 25.4 with a set of calipers?

26.0. Shim to 31.8. They come with shims.

I ran the shims for years, as 26.0 stems aren’t easy to come by, and never had an issue.

You need to shim the Vukaaeros. The Zipp store has them, been using one for years without issue
