Zipp stiffling peer review?

Well after people some made comments about peer review on another post I got to thinking about my trip to the A-2 windtunnel. When I went to the A-2 I was wanting to test the Chunky Churner against a reputable control, like a zipp disk. I was told I could not do this because I might publish the data. I thought that the equipment they had there was for this purpose. If their disks are so good there should be no problem with testing against others, I mean Zipp would always come out on top right? I’m pretty sure the engineers at zipp would have no worries about their equipments performance against some foam and fiber glass slapped onto a spooked will with a half assed sanding and paint job. Well anyway it aggravated me a little. I was still happy to see the results I did against a spooked rear, I’m not totally satisfied though. So I’m certainly going to go back, after I track down a zipp disk to borrow(I got a friend in Greensboro that should be able to help me out). Now the kid inside of me fancies a victory for the chunky churner, the rational part of me gives overwhelming odds to the zipp.

So at an undetermined date a Battle Royal will ensue at the A-2 Windtunnel

Ahh passive voice, the refuge of the cowardly and the lazy. Who told you you could not test a Zipp disc?

howardjd is my favorite ST’er of all time. of all time.

who was that other guy that used to upset everyone… swimfan or something?

Hmm the guy operating the wind tunnel maybe when I told him what test I wanted to do. I don’t want to call him out it seemed like he was just doing his job.

I did’nt bring one so I wanted to use one at the tunnel.

Howard seems neither cowardly nor lazy. A bit of a nutcase sure (sorry Howard).

As far as not allowing you to use the zipp disc for a published trial. I’m assuming that they were either given the disc by Zipp or want Zipp to come there for testing. Either way its a good idea not to allow testing thats not to there protocals. If for no other reason than they dont want to expalin why Zipp lost a test.

Styrrell

I’m not the nut chase you guys are trust me.

your mom’s a troll.

Did he say that you couldn’t test a Zipp disc or that you couldn’t test HIS (the tunnel’s) Zipp disc.

He expects us to provide him with the answers to his questions, and the tunnel to provide him with discs.

if you want to test a zipp disc

bring yer own zipp disc
.

Um, Stiffler called, and asked you to un-verb your thread title. He clearly rides Zipps.

Similarly, Halloween called, and is pissed that you spooked the rear wheel well before the season.

Now, to your unfortunate post: Zipp didn’t stifle anything, edith. If you show up with your own Zipp disc and churner, it’s your wind tunnel time, publish what you want. They can refute if they want. But you didn’t. And when the tunnel decided to not let you use their disc, you got all biyatchy and complained that they’re trying to beat you down. In this thread, and the other one. Zipp hasn’t done anything to you. You have done things to you.

I’ve gone from mildly entertained to a little annoyed, but when you start making suppositions about what established companies will or won’t do - with absolutely no input from the company themselves - you are done.

Lunch0000 and you have to be in cahoots, run the IP check.

if you want to test a zipp disc

bring yer own zipp disc

Possibly not necessary.

My parents live south of Charlotte. I have a 900 clincher disc. I’ll probably be visiting my folks in October

Jason - take me to the tunnel with you and I’ll bring my disc.

Hmm I read the website and assumed that, thats what they were there for. F zipp you won’t ever catch me riding one of there wheels I don’t care if the test 30watts better than mine. You guys are just nuts, crazy I tell you. Oh poor zipp can’t spare a wheel for some stupid amateur athlete with a lump disk to test, I have to go buy one, give me a break, f them. Sounds like a typical corporation to me. Its not like an operator for the windtunnel wasn’t there to make sure the test would be good.
They are scared that somebody might test their equipment outside there procedures is just crazy, I’m guessing their procedures optimize on how well the data turns out(if you know what I mean).

Hey any predictions on the results when I go back with a borrowed disk. Aside from windtunnel time do you think I’d get more watts/dollar for my churner or a zipp?

The tunnels disk, did you read the post? I’m going back with a borrowed disk at some point for a Battle Royal, Zipp Disk vrs Chunky Churner and a Singer front Vrs the Rolling Rampage. I also plan on testing the Tropicana bottle as well. I tried to test steering angle this past time around but the device in the tunnel does not allow for this.

The only one who has something to lose is Zipp and Hed:)

bye bye savings, well some of it

Actually please boot me off I spend way to much time on here in the first place, I need to focus on physics instead. I have long road ahead of me if I actually make in the career field I plane on, and obsessing over triathlon is not going to happy in the least. Please boot me off I’m pretty compulsive about posting so I probally need to stop anyway.

Cheers
It was fun while it lasted.
