808 Firecrest on the rear. What is the time savings that Zipp calculates in a 404 vs 808 in the front? Thanks
that is what i have on my bike 808fc on back and front. they are crazy fast!! Would not race with out them.
Yeah…for some reason I bought a set of 808s and then went and bought a 404 front. I noticed a bit of instability on the front with the 808, on pretty windy days so I thought it would be good to have the 404 as a choice to use also. Wondering if anyone knows the speed difference between the two with this set up. I am not that fast to begin with, so really just want to know out of curiosity.
Zipp’s website states the difference as 16 seconds over 40 km and that is for a pair of wheels. If the front counts for about 2/3 of that difference, then switching from a 808 to a 404 front would save you 10-11 seconds/40 km. Now you have to consider what if any handling issues there may be on a windy day between 808s and 404s. I use a 404 front because it is never difficult to handle, and if I flat, I can replace my latex tube with valve extender for a butyl tube with a 80 mm valve (no worries about dealing with a valve extender for a flat).
