I picked up a pair of these wheels and wow. I have ridden damn near every brand of race wheel there is and depth. These are some of the best wheels I’ve ever ridden. Super super stable and the ride felt like I was rolling on smooth highway the whole time even on rough roads. They are super wide and I had to adjust the brakes pretty good and pretty much wide open. We had some good strong winds today and the wheels cut through like a hot knife thru butter. If you get a chance to buy a pair I strongly advise you do. you will not regret it.
I’d rather just buy a new bike.
I’d rather put my kids through college.
I’d rather just borrow yours!
I agree. They’re incredible. I’m a small guy who gets blown around in cross winds, but have had no trouble with my Firestrikes. They’re smooth and descend really well also. I was shocked that the difference was noticeable over my Firecrests, but it’s definitely a better ride.

agreed. that’s why I posted. I have never really thought I would actually “feel” that big of a difference between wheelsets.

lol
.
how are the hubs - as i find zipp hubs the least reliable out of them all … out of 4 wheels i have 4 hubs off

I’ve had them 5 days and ridden twice so they seem good right now.
I’d rather rent them on race day.

I’d feel a difference if I overpaid by that much as well!

There’s no difference that a rider can feel. Period. The difference between them could be measured in a wind tunnel, sure. But not while riding them. The differences are imperceptible.
If you are getting a psychological boost from the new wheels, well that’s something I guess.
The effect of a placebo should never be overlooked.
I for one am curious about the braking changes in wet. I’m curious with the new textured brake track if it is better in wet conditoon by helping water bleed away form the brake track easier. I’ll never find out though as I swore off carbon clinchers because my body weight+carbon×)+wet conditions is no bueno.
Heck yeah!!! I rode my pre-Firestryke, pre-Firecrest 808’s that were made in 2003 (I’m guessing toroidal?? rims) to a sub 5 hour bike split in my last 2 IM to a sub 10 finish at age 40+. And they are tubies. Wish I had ridden Firestryke, My bike split might have been a minute faster and it would have only cost me a few $k extra.
The horror. Old toroidal profile and tubies?!?!?! Do you even care about your performance
I know, I know, it’s a travesty to ride old school but sometimes it actually works.
I will depart from the seemingly unnecessary negativity.
You got an awesome set of wheels, I hope you enjoy them. I would love to own a set, but Firecrest wheels are out of my reach, so these are pretty unlikely.

agreed. I’ve just deduced the fact that slowtwitch is beginning to have the largest collection of a$$hole nay sayers in the world for zero reason.
Sorry bro. Keep doing what you’re doing.
What size tires were you on then and now?
