Zipp 303 vs reynolds assault

hi,

I need another wheelset and I hesitate between zipp 303 firecrest 2015 or reynolds assault slg 2017.

I know both seller, so I am not worried about the wheels.

I know the zipp value is about twice so its hard to chose https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

the zipp have only 1500 miles and the reynolds less than 1000 miles
zipp come without any tires and brake pads but reynolds come with 2 brand new vittoria corsa graphene + 4 used brake pads + 4 brand new. cryo blue pads.

Im 5’10’’ and 175 lbs…

what do you think, advice, ideas etc?

thank you

The difference between two high end wheel sets like this is very negligible. I’d go with the set that gives you more stuff and that appears to be the Reynolds. Without going to a wind tunnel and seeing what works the absolute best with your setup there is no real way to know which would be faster in reality.

ok thanks, faster or not, it is not a big deal for me. But maybe zipp are more reliable… better Better braking,

I’ve owned 2 sets of Reynolds with the Cryoblue pads for 4 years and never thought to myself “I wish I had better braking”. Unless the Zipps are Aluminium surface or you are descending mountain passes regularly I don’t think you’ll notice it.

ok, are you pretty heavy rider?

I am not a heavy rider, that is another consideration as well of course. I’m a climber at 62KG (135LBS) but when I began cycling on these wheels I was closer to 68KG (150LBS) and still didn’t find any issues.

To me it sounds like you’ve got the 303s in mind and if that’s the case you should pull the trigger. I’ve also got the older non-SLG Reynolds wheels which had an old brake track technology.
