I don’t recall seeing aero numbers on the old Zipp 3000 tri spoke wheels. I heard they were not really fast through comments but have no idea how they really tested. A friend has use of either a 404 firecrest or a Zipp 3000 to pair with a Sub 9 disc. What it the better option?
The Zipp 3000 is actually slower than a std training wheel (which is why they stopped making it). On its own it tested quite well (at 0yaw…almost all the testing was head on in those days), but on the bike the blades created so much interference with the fork blades that it was a very slow wheel in practice.
