just ordered a cobb max to try out. anybody zip tie a cage behind the seat? does it work out well with this saddle?
I ride a Cobb Max (on a Felt B2, almost slammed forward). Tried zip-tying a cage to it - maybe my technique is lacking, but I found it hard to find solid, straight lines to route the zipties to the cage and the zip-ties tore when I rode over a bumpy section. Currently returned the cage to the seat-tube, looking to find a solution when by race-season.
Here’s my rear bottle setup with a V Flow Plus, a Specialized Rib Cage and a P2. I used three zip ties. Since the saddle is pretty well slammed forward, the bottle is oriented more vertically than is ideal. This makes it very prone to launching bottles. I remedied this by securing the bottle with a single large elastic. I drink from my BTA bottle, then move the rear bottle forward when the front is empty.
Teach me, oh master! I can’t even cram a tube under that thing without chafing my shorts off…
Lol, it’ll be a point of pride when I experience chaffing for the first time. It’ll mean that I finally have legit cyclist thighs.
The sealant canister is slightly narrower than the nose of the Cobb Plus, but my new SHC 170 may pose problems. That would be a shame since it’s an easily-accessible and aero (I think) location for a flat kit.
This is what I use.
thanks for the input! we will see how it does when it comes in today
