Are they easily adjusted?..worth the $$…?
thanks
I have them on my road bike. 15.25lbs. I wanted to get it as light as possible so I went with these. I’m not really sure if they are worth the money but it is something different.
They do function well. Neve had any problems with adjustments.
O
I will agree with Owen on these. They are very nice and I did the same thing as Owen, put them on my lightweight bike and they do the job just as well as any other brakes I have used. Are they worth the money, probably not but they are very light and I did not have to pay full price.
Yeah…different…but pricey
.
i bought a used ti set on ebay…i wanted to swap out the cervelo brakes that were on my bike, i liked the design and the weight, and that they’re different…they are beautifully machined.
reviews were good for their stopping power and modulation ability on RBR.
while i have only been on a few rides with them so far…they are the equal or better of any other road brakes i have used and are lighter. are they 3x as good in function…no
i find the feel on them is good and the cam action does increase power available if your forearms are tired…wish i had these coming down ventoux in the rain this past summer…they would have been welcomed at that point.
installation instructions came with the brakes and though they are single pivot, they are easily adjusted if you can follow instructions and have messed with brakes before.
are they worth the $$$… depends how you value them. i think so, but thats IMHO.
Hello Bladed and All,
Overall I like my Zero Gravity brakes. The front profile is a bit smaller than Dura-Ace and they are very light.
They are not as positive for braking as Dura-Ace (especially the rear brake) and they certainly could use some corner rounding for aero streamlining.
Also you will need to get new brake pad screws as the expensive ($5.25 each) Ti screws that come with them stick out like parachutes. You can replace them with stainless oval head for with a weight gain of about 2 grams overall. ($5.20 for 100, hex drive, at Ababa bolt, San Marcos, CA.) Or with a smooth head Ti from the various Ti bolt suppliers for about $5.25 each.
Cheers,
Neal
Very nice brakes. Not really “worth” the money, but if you are looking at them, then that is probably not an issue. Unbelievable weight when holding them. They work perfectly, even at 50mph + braking. Not quite as positive action as the new Dura Ace dual pivots though.
I got my set a few months ago and I have no compaints. I’m not sure I’d pay full retail but if you get a reasonable deal on them they are great. There is no practical reason why you should get them but they stop as well as any of my SHimano brakes, are super light, and the real reason anyone buys them----they look cool.
I’ve heard others complain about them being hard to adjust but I didn’t find them bad at all. You have to make sure you have the cable plenty tight initally as the barrel adjuster doesn’t seem to give too much room to play with. As far as the self-centering feature if you have a 13mm open end/cone wrench you can immediately center them and they work perfectly.
The new version is pretty nice, I use them on my road bike. They work well enough for road racing.
