Zabriskie looked good on the Ventoux

I was surprised and impressed to see him hanging with the leaders on the Ventoux today. Good for him.

What a loser, he finished behind a french guy
.

Wonder who his doctor is?

Dude…that is a breach of forum rules…read them…That kind of comment will get you banned.

Was this comment really warranted ?

…and did u notice his TT position on the Prologue and TT?

Back to flat aerobars, no more Landis position.

Wonder why?

Wonder who his doctor is?
Piet De Moor, Piet Daneels, and Joost De Maeseneer. Riders are only allowed to use team doctors unless they are referred specifically (obviously if they have a knee problem, they go to a specialist, but only if the team doctor refers them).

I agree it was AWESOME to see Dave Z mixing it up with the big boys today, he left Vino behind and was there at the end with the likes of Levi, Cadel Evans, Piepoli, some of the best climbers in the world today. And this on the most feared climb in Europe. At this point I think he’s burnt too many matches to have a good Tour, but I’d have to guess CSC is wondering if they might turn him into a Tour contender in 2-3 years.

I read an interview where Dave says he is very light this year. No doubt that’s helping his climbing ability. He’s becoming a good all-'rounder (ala Lance). Very valuable to any team. It’s not common to have a guy that’s one of the best TTers in the world that can also climb with the best of 'em. Let’s see if he can keep this trend up or if it’s a flash-in-the-pan anomoly. I hope it’s for good. Go DZ!

Ok, not to put the cart befor the horse by any means, but could you imagine the speech Dave Z would give from the podium in Paris. Seriously, it would be one hilarious non-sequitor and well worth the price of flight over there…

Given the state of pro cycling, yes.

He’s not totally flat like he used to be (i.e. last year), the bars still have a bit of tilt to them, by my eye at least.

He wasn’t with the big boys. The big boys were not playing on Ventoux. They don’t care. To think that Moreau is one of the big boys in the mountains is way off…

Even if the Ventoux wasn’t contested like it will be during Le Tour, I was still surprised to see Zabriskie up there in the group, considering he just finished grand tour. I honestly thought he was just in this race for some TT redemption, but he’s 25 seconds off the lead after the biggest climb of the race. That’s pretty cool.

hey, I’m certainly not saying he isn’t good…but when the tour comes, things change…

OK party pooper, but sorry I dont parlay voo. Granted Vino pulled back on the throttle on purpose yesterday, but who are the better climbers that will be riding the tour that werent “playing” on the Ventoux? I’ll name valverde as one (he pulled out sick), and Rasmussen. Please name your list.

I’ve watched every grand tour (and not so grand) over the past decade, and Moreau is a solid second-tier climber. He typically has one or two good days in the mountains. And Levi Liepheimer and Cadel Evans and Leonardo Piepoli are solid first-tier climbers (piepoli being a specialist.) I’m actually not a Levi fan, but I’d venture to say he’s been in the lead group (or the group behind the final “Armstrong+1 or 2 guys” group) in nearly every major mountain stage of the tour for the past 6-7 years.

And actually I never said Moreau was one of the big boys. Dave Z wasnt mixing it up with Moreau, but with the “Elite climbers” like Cadel Evans, Levi, Piepoli, Contador.

It is a thinly veiled doping accusation. If there is a public accusation out there (i.e. news release, charges by UCI etc…), Dan is OK with discussing it. However, to make an accusation out of the blue with no press release or ANYTHING to back it up is NOT OK AND AGAINST FORUM RULES AND WILL GET YOU BANNED… Ask Slowman yourself if you want…

Mike
P.S. It is also poor taste and shows a bit of lack of class…my opinion.

I would agree with you on this one. To see Vino simply go backwards was a clear indication that he wasn’t willing to waste the watts and energy to simply hang with those guys. If you see the photos from Ventoux, Vino looks fairly calm as he let his teammates go hunt for glory now (Look at today’s stage) so that he can whip them like rented mules in July. It’s all part of the plan.

The only time the words “Moreau” and “elite climber” collide in the same sentence is on ST…

Bob

“Ask Slowman yourself if you want…”

you expressed the rule correctly and succinctly.

He is working to be the most complete as possible. Probably he lost some of this capabilities in TT, but he will be the one to follow next years. Cunego tryed something similar, but he lost too mutch on hills, even if it was to make an improvement in TT. I guess it doesnt worth it at all. No Tour these year, he will be in Suizerland… trying to prove him self that he stills a great climber, but without too mutch pressure.
