Turning 38 on the 30th of July. Due to some work stuff I might only have a few hours to do it but I’d like to do something different and fun.
What have you done with your friends (or alone) for your birthday workout?

Always best to share a fun or challenging workout with close training friends. Think of a challenging course/workout that you otherwise would never do. Agree that whoever’s b’day it is gets to change or create the workout.
We often just run the number of minutes the person is turning(minutes not miles!)
I have “celebrated” my recent birthdays(9/11 BTW) by climbing the nearby 1500’ hill both on my bike and by foot.
double fisting a few beers is my favourite.
I really feel the burn in my guns
Andrew
I much prefer (tequila shots x number of years). Things start to go a little fuzzy after a bit and you get to see all those pretty colors.
I did some 12 oz curls on my birthday last week. but then again i’m 24 and still a partier
Birthday sex is a great AM or post-dinner workout!!!
Then at night, walk 2 miles from my house to downtown Ann Arbor, close down the bars at 2AM, stumble home.
My sister and I made a tradition of racing on, or as close as possible to our birthdays as a way to celebrate life by hurting ourselves. Two years ago at a local 5k, my sister won for the women, won a raffle for a free massage, and had the entire race of 500+ people sing her happy birthday. It was pretty fun.
a nice long bike ride on your favorite route follow by a long warm shower with the wife or girlfriend(sorry but im a perv!) good Quizno sub with few cold beers a a dq blizzard follow by a 3 hours nap.
I mean your girlfriend if you dont have a wife and not your girlfriend or your wife!!
For my 21st birthday this year, I ran for an hour, then went to the pool:
300 + 6 x 50 on :50 w.u.
21 x 100 on 1:21 (I held 1:11s on this)
6 x 50 on :50
2 x
12 x 25 kick alt dolphin/whip
4 x 1m dive
2 x 3m dive
hey tigerchik, wait until your are in your mid 30’ the hour bike ride with the sub and beer will sound better;)

nah, the problem with getting older is I’ll have ridiculously slow intervals for birthday sets. Can you imagine 30 x 100 on 1:30? I’d be spending half the workout on the wall…
High intensity cardio with the wife or girlfriend! If you are young enough, maybe even some repeats.
A few years ago when I turned 40 I came up with FortyMan: one set of 40 laps in the pool, followed by a 40-mile ride, followed by 40 laps around the local high school track. Too long for an Oly distance and too short for a half-IM, but a good workout nonetheless.
I turned 44 in January and did a 4x44 workout. I started with 44 minutes of biking (indoors on my trainer), ran to and from our local speedskating oval (44 minutes of running), skated 44 minutes at the oval, then drove to a nearby park and cross-country skied for 44 minutes. I invited a bunch of friends to do this with me and coincidentally there were 4 of us who did the entire workout. When I got home I drank 4 beers!
You will need to get some bowling shoes, here you go, from deep in the ST vault…
Well options are if you are working that day, I would say morning “workout” with wife/ girlfriend/ palmala, then an easy 5 k run shower work , home steak dinner cold beer repeat morning workout skipping the run…
if no work then repeat morning workout with run, big breakfast repeat morning workout, then nap, easy bike ride, steak dinner cold beer nap evening workout, go out with friends re hydrate( read beer) then go home and have another workout. NO driving … well at least not anything with a motor…
Last birthday (36th) - first brick after six weeks on crutches and a whole bunch of physical therapy. Short and slow, but good to feel like I was finally making headway again.
I’m doing a sprint tri Aug 9th on my 38th. Doing some mtn biking/hiking/camping with a couple buddies for another friend’s 40th the week before.
100 yards/meters of swimming for every year.
For a true test make it all butterfly.
God! I do not look forward to my 60s!
