I’m considering designing a custom zoot suit and like their options currently. I was curious how you went with your sizing options if you fell between sizes. They recommend sizing up-if you bumped up a size, was the fit what you wanted in all asepcts? My lower half is a medium and the upper half would lean more towards the large as I have somewhat broad shoulders. I like things somewhat tight, but not restricting.
My focus is a little polarizing-either Sprint races or 70.3.
I’d like some details about your experience ordering from Zoot. Not looking to make this a bash fest-so if you didn’t have a good experience, maybe PM me.
My thoughts:
-I think I might need an 8" inseam rather than 9
-not sure whether to size up to a Large or stay in Medium
Currently I’m 175 and 5’10". Goal is to get down to 165. 170 is very doable. Would love to be at 165.
IF you ordered a suit custom and the fit was off, how did they handle it?
I only have Zoot tri kits like 5-6 of them, so I know the fabric very well. I’m in between sizes too mainly because of big chest so I went size up. The more you wear them, they loosen up, so medium should be ok for you. I feel comfortable swimming in it because my chest area is not too tight, but I can tell it’s not tight enough when I ride after the swim. Medium might be too tight for you in the beginning, but you will feel better if you keep racing in it.
I am on team Zoot, so I do all of my racing in one of their custom tri suits. The only reason I applied to be on the team in the first place, was because I had a custom Zoot tri suit through our tri club and I loved it (much more comfortable than the two tri suits I had from two other brands).
As far as sizing goes, I’m a pretty similar size to you…I’m 5’9" and float between 170-175 pounds, although I’m closer to 165 when I race. I played soccer my whole life until my late 30’s when I started triathlon-ing, so I’m built more like a soccer player than an endurance athlete. I race in a large tri suit, although a medium would probably fit me too (I wear mediums in other Zoot products–mostly lower-half items like swim suits and running shorts). I choose to go with the large because I like my tri suits to be tight, but not super compressive. Large fits the bill for me in that sense.
