I can’t remember the last day off work when I didn’t wear my Bean Boots. I’m not sure if they’re considered acceptable attire in the greater public (here in the country it goes without saying) but damn if they aren’t perfect for just about everything I do outdoors.
What are your every day shoes and why should I buy a pair?
Sandals. And my wife hates it. I have multiple pairs of Reef sandals. I wear them in cold temps. I claim Scandinavian roots and lack of issues with 30-50deg temps with sandals.
I have a pair of blue slide-on shoes from L L Bean that I wear
sometimes uggs - yes I’m a vegetarian, they were a gift from someone who didn’t quite think that one through but damnit they’re warm and I love them
black pair of arcipedico dress shoes - v comfy, recommend highly
often I just wear run shoes
Hoka Cliftons. Super comfy. Have a pair for everyday walking around and one for running. Any old ones I use for doing yard work. Otherwise it’s Crocs flip flops.
Assuming not work shoes, I would say ASICS running shoes. If I want so something nicer looking I bought a pair of Magnanni leather casual sneakers that fit like a glove.
Most days I am wearing a pair of Jordans and I rotate between 1s, 2s, 3s and 11s. If not in Jordans some Nike Kill shots and in the summer, Birkenstocks.
When I go into the office I’ll wear Jordans if no client visits or a pair of cole haans (loafers in warm weather and lace ups in colder weather) if client visits.
Crocs. I have many many pairs of them, but none like the ones people think most crocs are. If it’s cold outside, then I will put on a pair of running shoes, which I have many of those too. I do have a new pair of fur-lined crocs that I will try out once it gets colder.
When not at work, it depends on time of year. Much of the year, I’m in flip flops. It’s San Diego.
When I wear shoes, it’ll be a mix. If I’m walking a bit, I have a pair of Vans that were a limited edition collaboration with Finisterre that are comfortable. I also have a pair of slip on Olukai’s that I wear if I’m just running down the street to CVS or the grogery store. If I’m going out and want to look like a grownup at all, I’ve been wearing Clark’s boots for decades.
Blundstones are my daily casual drivers. They’re the perfect boot for the PNW. I have a steel toed version for when I’m on construction sites.
There’s a Vancouver company called Vessi that makes somewhat stylish runners that are completely waterproof. Those are pretty popular here and I would say are my number 2 shoe.
In the summer it’s all flip flops pretty much all the time.

Never would have picked you as a Vans guy.
I’m currently in Vans. I more or less alternate between Vans and the kind of Adidas that are basically the same style as Vans.
At work, some Sketchers work shoe. It’s black, has stretchy laces so it slips on, and damn comfortable. At home, either running shoes or a pair of real sad looking Birkenstocks - with socks. Mostly the latter.
Blundsotne booths. Simple, stylish, elegant, comfy, lasts forever. You can wear them hiking and to a theatre. Available in many styles, I have the simple black.
A beat up pair of slip-on Vans, that I often use as slippers by collapsing the heel. Also, often no socks. When they’re too far gone, I have another pair. And another. That, or flip flops.
Unless I have an in-person meeting with clients, in which case it’s situation appropriate footwear.

I’ve never heard of these before but I like what I see. I’m guessing not waterproof though? My wife might love a pair of these.
