Your comfort zone

Just a wondering question for ya. Where are you most comfortable? Where is your favorite place to be?

For me it’s on the patio of a restaurant on a hot night in a big city. I just love it. The big buildings lit up all around you. People running around on the street. The warmth that awakens your body. The comfort in knowing that even though your warm now the horrible heat of the day has passed. Alone or with friends it just seems to be the place to be.

I agree , its almost a Euro thing as everwhere there is a sidewalk cafe . They dont seem to be in a rush to go anywhere , lunch lasts 1-3 hours.

I like the sun , sitting out side with almost nothing on. The only problem is my skin is like a piece of film , 15 minutes out is the max exposure .

Sometimes out walking at 4 am is nice " just me and the fog"

For me its quite time , standing in the middle of a river fly fishing.

Ever get tired of breath taking beauty? Man that is awesome.

Ditto!

.

You’re scarin’ the fish!

Sitting on my couch holding my twin boys as they drift off to sleep, staring down at them and thinking how lucky I am.

Why is that guy fishing in an orange river?

In bed, softly kissing and caressing Sarah, the woman I love.

For me it is certainly in my own home with my wife and kids. No place better.

My first thought was, on the island.

My second thought was, in a pool. But not all pools… I need one that’s both spacious and cozy.

So we’ll go with the island. Eagle Lake in the morning

Definitely at home with my husband and kids - watching movies, playing a board game in front of the fire, eating dinner together, reading at bedtime. It’s all good.

When I think about it, it’s definitely family oriented.

With 2 young daughters, how 'bout anywhere in Walt Disney World , specifically as the park is closing and people are piling out of the place. My wife and daughters always stop and get a treat from the bakery and go sit down one of the alleys at a little cafe table. We talk about the day and watch the people go by. We are in no hurry to go anywhere. It’s still hot at 10pm. We’re exhausted, but we sit and talk and laugh and I think of how lucky we are to be a healthy and happy family.

This is it right here, for me:

Wherever this group is, is my comfort zone.

I’ve got a few:

  1. At home in the evening with my wife and daughter. My little girl can’t do 15 minutes without hugging Daddy. My wife is good to me- patient, nurturing, and kind. All 3 of us will pile onto one loveseat. I feel loved, and simply being in their presence is enough.

  2. Trooping the line in the pre-dawn grey before the sun comes up. Someplace out beyond civilization, whether its training or real. I’m not sure why, but that environment always leads to some serious introspection. Bagram Air Base may have been my favorite.

  3. In the eye-bulging chaos of full exertion in a race (shorter one). Its hard, and it hurts, but there is only that moment, and you feel ALIVE!

Hawaii, New Zealand, but where I really felt like I was meant to be was Paris.

I’m 34 years old, and I don’t mind admitting that my favorite and most relaxing place to be is on a baseball field, fielding ground balls and/or shagging fly balls. There is something theraputic about running down fly balls in the sun. For a few moments each day, I really am Jim Edmonds (in my own mind) … then they call me in to throw batting practice. That would be my most comfortable.

The most enjoyable place is obviuosly, with my family. I love going to my parent’s summer place at the lake (no bars on cell phone), and just enjoying family as it should be (no tv, no internet, limited phone, etc). Then, on the way home we discuss doing away with cable, getting rid of the internet, etc … Nah. We do try to limit it.

Our backyard is a pretty cool place to be in the summer, cookouts every night, family games, etc … everything except the Brady’s astroturf lawn and potato-sack races.
