I thought the point of Crocs was that people who wore them openly disclosed that they just want to be comfortable and they don’t care that the shoes are ugly.
So why put a heel on them and defeat the purpose?
i’ve heard that plain old crocs are a fashion thing this summer – you can’t find them on eBay cause the trendies are snapping them up.
they’re making platform Wellie Boots too. The designers have figured out you can take something dirt cheap to manufacture and make it trendy and there will be many many who will jump at it.

Looks like the croc body is a new shape, so custom molds were made. Given that maybe 3 people will buy a pair, I’d say the price is about right to cover the cost of tooling.

My problem with crocs is they get slippery on wet surfaces. On the pool deck they were deadly. On the slick floor of an ER where liquids often dwell I would never have worn them there.
