Yet another Asics question

Okay, so the new Hyperspeed 2 just does not suit me. The original Hyperspeed and the Tiger Paw prior to that were perfect. I’ve run every mile since September of 2005 in these shoes. The new HS2 fits just different enough and has less structure to the outsole making for a shoe that really is good for only racing on clean pavement. I need a replacement shoe and the new Gel-Bandito may be closer to the original Hyperspeed. Has anyone seen it or tried it on? What in the cushioning line would be closest? I tried a pair of 2120’s and the medial truss and the high heel drove me nuts. They are back in the closet after a total of 9 miles. Any other recommendations?

bump for another look around the knowledgebase…

From you description, look at the Mizuno Ronin or the Addidas Adizero race. Both race day only, very low heel stack shoes with all the “road feel” you can ask for.

I have used the ASICS 2*** series since I started running. I have been very happy with them. There have been some that give me problems ( 2080 ), but I usually go back one model and then wait for the next.

You can usually find older models on various websites. Please ask if you have any questions.

If you liked the hyperspeeds, you might like either the speedstars or the t5 by brooks. you could also look around the net like www.holabirdsports.com and see if they have any older hyperspeeds.

I ran in the 2xxx series prior to going with the TigerPaw/HS. In going back, there was just more support than I wanted and could really feel it in my lower calf. I really need to find the closest replacement to the HS1.

I just looked at the Bandito online and I’m thinking it is what will replace the DS racer, it seems to have some posting so I bet that if you were into the DS trainer and want to stick with asics, the bandito is your shoe.
