Does anyone know where I can find online video footage online of Ye Shiwen’s world record 400m record in London? Don’t care whether or not she doped; I just want to see the race footage.
go to google. type ye shiwen in the box. click search. look at the left of your screen, click on videos.
pretty sure if the OP can post on st, he is capable of googling a video!?
I cant find anything than a bbc video that cant be viewed in US.
Also surprised this big finish not on any highlight reels.
If someone could actually post a link if you have it would be great thnx!

Yeah, didnt need to open that, have used that on others, when pretty obvious
Sure you did not look either, but thanks, v. helpful.
well, if you really can’t find it on google, there’s a link to a video taken from an iPad of a TV during her leg in the other thread about it. Some of the comments made by the people making the video are funny
Wow, what a race. I don’t see what all the fuss is about regarding doping. She looked quite normal to me up until the free, and obviously worked her ass off in the final 100. She was MOP for most of the race, and caught up to Beisel in the last half of the breast. Nicely done.
The link is unavailable to international viewers (I am in Thailand) but there was a post on another thread that had a link that worked.

So you can spot a doper just by watching a video? Very impressive. You should go to work for USADA.
USADA Supervisor: “Hey kbmcdowell, get in here. We suspect a doper in the 110M Hurdles. Watch the video.”
kbmcdowell: “Hmmmm, looks like it. NO WAIT! The last 40M, he was just working his ass off, sir. He’s clean.”
USADA Supervisor: "Good work kbmcdowell."

I think that your analysis pretty well demonstrates the logic behind the viewing public’s suspicion. I won’t speculate as to whether the result is clean or tainted, but her ability to close then pull away with such speed and irregularity is what caused everyone to take notice. Frankly, I hope it’s legit - purely for the sake of athletic achievement.
I tried google and youtube searches several times with no success. That is why I am asking on slowtwitch. Naturally, I will try searching again today.
Thanks GMAN, for the direct link!
a Google search? I should have explained that I had already tried repeated google and youtube searches with no success before I asked on slowtwitch.

I know his comment is quite commical especially when you consider that Beisel was pulling away the entire breast and had over a body length lead going into the free style. Ye basically gained a body length over Beisel every 25m during the last 100m. If you don’t think that is questionable then I don’t know what to say. Plus you add in the fact that in the last 30 years China has been busted for doping in swimming more than double then the next closest country makes you wonder.

And yet, your link doesn’t get you there. So helpful.
Didn’t she also best her PR by 5 seconds? that’s quite an improvement. I hope itall all legit too but, it does seem a little odd.
And yet, it’s completely inconceivable that one could monitor their energy output throughout an incredibly long race & perform better than others on a stroke that they’ve always swam better than other strokes. Like Lochte not being a 100fr specialist, or Dana Vollmer not being strongest on 100br, I would expect each person is allowed to have a stroke that’s much stronger than the others without immediately being accused of doping. Throw in that it’s the Olympics & add a dash of wanting that win bad enough to turn herself inside out for it and you’ve got a person with a good freestyle leg, closing speed anyway, emotional drive and a well-timed taper…her last leg being faster than Lochte’s - who had to work hard(er) to stay in the hunt the entire race - doesn’t necessarily surprise me. He was suffering more than she was.
That said, the Chinese history is a dubious one & doubts are very much founded to me. But without a positive test it’s just doubt & inquiry.
I hope it’s just a really good example of the right time, talent & effort, just to prove a point.

he he - thats pretty funny right there:)
Shall we all believe that a 16 year old girl has undone eons of physiology by swimming faster than an elite male at the end of a grueling race?
Perhaps now is the time for women to dominate men in swimming? Is this the future?
I can think of two reasons why women shouldn’t dominate:
- They have less muscle mass;
- They have never done so before.
But, perhaps we (mostly males) are deluding ourselves? Is this an inconvenient truth, or an insidious lie?
