Seriously though, I hope he recovers quickly. I think this will just help fuel the inner fire.
Have you ever seen pit-bulls being pulled apart during a fight (I’ve only seen it on news footage)…they cry. Not because the fighting hurts but because they don’t want to stop fighting. That’s probably why Lance was crying (if he was).
I noted how frantic that area was for about 30 seconds as the riders all regrouped, got support, and got back going. It was reminiscent of turning over a rock to reveal an ant colony.
Agreed, if he was crying, I have no doubt it was because he had to quit the race, not because of the pain. I was just surprised, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen the guy cry before.
Like I said, I think this is one of those moments he’s going to store away to use as motivation when he needs it later.
x2 on the ant colony thing as well. That was actually the one of the first things I thought of when I saw that.
Where in that video do you see Lance crying? The only thing I saw was him wipe his *nose (not his eyes) *a couple of times. He looked pretty composed to me.
This sucks. Whatever one thinks about Lance, you gotta admit his comeback adds drama and was going to make the Giro and Tour both really interesting (not to mention probably give us more TV coverage). Now, at best, the Tour will be interesting. But can he get back into form quickly enough to out-duel Contador for team lead? Much more in doubt than before…
