Xterra wetsuit question-vendetta

I was curious if any of you users have had any issues with the #40 rubber that is used on it. I just bought this suit brand new, and read the statement about being gentle with it, and was wondering if it was prone to tearing. I was also wondering if I should trade it in for another suit (like the one below the vendetta) so it would be more durable.

Any comments you have would be appreciated.
also, is the sizing acurrate-or am I okay to have the medium even though I am 5’10" and will be around 155 race sesaon.

come on now!

I have the Vector pro just benieth it and havent had any issues. I’m 6’ and weigh 195-205ish and had originally ordered an XL. After a couple swims I felt it was too big so the guys at Xterra swapped it out for a large at no cost. Great customer service.

I also just bought a Vendetta, back in Oct, I’ve only swam in it three times. I just pull from the inside and am very careful with it. It’s my first wetsuit so I have nothing to compare it to. I love swimming in it though and feel like an Otter or a Seal moving through the water. The worst thing with it is though is I was so hot when I was swimming I was miserable. Then I bought a sleeveless Xterra that I haven’t got to swim in yet.

I watched the video about putting on a wetsuit on Bike Sport Michigans website that I thought was good and mad sense. I would recommend watching that.

What exactly is your question?

Treat it like your race wheels. (seriously)

The Vendetta is a FAST suit…the reason it’s so fast is that it is very flexibile. You’ve gotta be careful and yes, this (and other top end wettys) are more prone to tearing than lower level suits.

Be careful with it, trim your nails and enjoy some fast splits!

Of course you need to be careful with the Vendetta. As you have to with any other high end model. We have tested a lot of suits and the vendetta seems to be one of the fastest and at the same time most comfortable suits.

Treat it gentle and you have an awesome toy right there…

.

I went with the vector pro and absolutely love it, but like some others have said the thinner material built into the areas where you need flexibility more than buoyancy is not as durable as the heavier material. Unfortunately I quickly put a couple small tears in my arms trying to put it on in a hurry (thanks a lot TTT, who the hell thinks it’s a good idea to try to put on a wetsuit after riding 24 miles of hills!). Luckily they were small enough that the glue they sent with the material worked fine.

Compared to my first wetsuit the material in places on my vector feels almost ‘flimsy’, but the trade off is it feels AWESOME in the water.

From looking at the website, the Vendetta isn’t available until Feb 09, are changes being made to it from when you first reviewed it?

Thanks.

Jim

XTerra is supposed to be coming out with a new suit - a hybrid #39/#40 suit - that they spoke with me about briefly at Interbike. But I thought it was to be a NEW suit, not an upgrade to the Vendetta. So honestly, I don’t know. Perhaps their production is just focused around the new suit? MarkyV is the best person to ask about that.

so are you saying it’s hard to get in your suit after the 24 miles our is it hard because the suits still wet??
just asking so i can plan on bring two suit to make the 2nd swim (if i can say easier)
it’s a older sleeveless suit that i plan on cutting the leg a little shorter
thanks

It’s hard because you are wet/covered with sweat. Bring some plastic bags, they really make it a ton easier as you put your feet and hands in them then they slide right through the suit. Final adjustments are the tricky part and that is how I put a tiny tear in my suit.

Of course if you could always skip the wetsuit totally. The water was at least 56 degrees, so it wasn’t that bad…

I raced 6 races in the latter half of my 2008 season in a Vendetta and man is that suit a joy!!! What I found remarkable is that it feels like it just melts off your body in T1 - I don’t use any lube and it comes off faster than any suit I’ve owned. I don’t find it to be any more fragile then the Vector Pro suits I’ve owned in the past. I still don’t put my finger nails in it when I’m putting it on (just use the pads of your finger). It’s a great suit.

Thanks guys,
The suit is an 08 I think, and I got it from somebody on here. I was just a little shocked at how thin the rubber was (felt) and I got a little worried. It is an amazing suit, and I had total freedom of my arms (picture me “air swimming” in my living room.) I think after putting it on and checking it out, I will be fine. I will be anal about the care for it.

I love it, and am glad I got it!
Should work well for Eagleman and Beach 2 Battleship!

My wife and I went to Chicago last fall, and swam in the lake while there. Niether of us had our wetsuits with us. I had a hard time keeping
up with her there. When we got home we went to our local lake with our wetsuits on.(my Vendetta) I beat her in a 1500m swim by 300 meters! I feel like
a seal in that thing. I am very careful putting it on. Im 6’3" 205lbs, It comes off quite easily, but I try to be super careful with it. I train in a sleeveless Xterra suit, and save the
Vendetta for races, and for those times when I need to pass my wife!

I have the vendetta and the vector pro x2 sleeveless. Both great suits. I have had not problems with the vendetta. I think its a great suit. The only thing that scared me was to have it peeled off by wetsuit peelers so I bypassed that experiment to be on the safe side during my last race. I don’t think its as delicate as everyone says it is. So far, so good for me.
