Which would fit best on a 2013 Cervelo P3, Xlab stealth pocket 100 or 400? Pictures would really help me!
i have a 2013 P3 as well, and also the Xlab 400 bag. Haven’t used the 100, but have used the Rocket (regular and XL). I like the 400 much better, simply because of the zipper. The 100 appears similar to the Rockets, and the problem is the single-tab zipper starting from the bottom. The velcro below is positioned forward of the starting point of the zipper, so when you pull the tab forward, the bag lifts up and bunches forward, preventing the zipper from opening. It is extremely frustrating, I had to awkwardly use a finger to hold the bag down while the other fingers pulled the zipper forward. Not fun on a tri-bike, your attention should be focused on the road ahead.
With the 400, you have dual zippers. You can position them at the back, at the front, or somewhere in the middle, and is so much easier to open. The velcro’s are positioned so that the bag doesn’t pull up and bunch, at all. It also has an internal plastic piece to keep the bags structure a bit firmer. Overall is a much much better design. I wrapped some friction tape around my top tube, under each of the velcro straps, and the bag doesn’t fall over at all using that setup.

Some other options for you to consider, all of our packs have dual zippers and no bunching up of any kind. And you don’t need any friction tape, our mounting system (especially on the ‘freestanding’ 483) are super secure, with zero slipping, sliding, or anything. I replaced a XLab 400 with a Speedpack 483 on my Transition, and then put a pink one on my wife’s new Slice. Big difference in quality, fit, and mounting security. I’ll never go back to the XLabs.
Plus I got a hand written “Thanks for your purchase” from Dark Speedworks. Can’t beat that!!
Reviving this old thread to say I just got a Dark speedworks bento to replace the Xlab one on my wife’s bike and there’s no comparison in quality, the DSW build quality is far higher than the Xlab, not even close in my book.
Thanks for the feedback.
Glad to hear that our pack works well for you !
