Why is it that fat people show up at the pool and hog lanes only to blubber around for a couple hours? My gym has two pools, one without lanes for blubbering and a competition pool for swimming laps. The fat people insist on using the competition pool for their blubbering thus creating crowded conditions for those of us that want to do our training and get out. WTF is up with that?
Well, at least it seems you dont get the splashers and senior water aerobics at the same time which only leaves 1 or 2 lanes for the people that want to swim Lucky you.
This sounds like something that the “blog that rymes with athlete” would write about and I am sure swimfan would love to comment on.
Peace

“WTF is up with people inconveniencing me? I’m a badass, fit, hot-bodied triathlete! People should get the f*ck out of my way all the time! Clearly I’m better than they are. Why can’t they see that?”

Talk to the aquatics director or head lifeguard.

At least your pool leaves lanes open. The water buffalo’s run our pool and they want allow any lanes open while the are doing their buffalo dances which is twice a day on MWF. That freakin sucks, the way they have it scheduled means my best run times have to be in the middle of the damn heat (which aint fun in MS) cause I got to swim in the mornings.
His point is that there is a whole separate pool built for people to just float or paddle around in. Nobody ever uses it and they feel the need to take a lap lane to do nothing. Its not just fat people, also very fit teens coming from basketball or lifting that jump in with their basketball shorts and do some awkward 10m lap and then jump around from lane to lane.

I got the point. I just think the delivery was bigotted. Typical ST, though.
Man, that sucks. I feel for you. These kinds of stories from people on ST make me think how hard we have it and that people like this are the real whiners: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/05/20/ethiopia.children/index.html
Oh, and that should have been in pink. Suck it up and be grateful for what you have.
lol true
.
I get this a lot to. However, instead of being annoyed I treat the lane hogs as race training. If they get in my way I either swim over them or around them if possible. Just like in a race.
Usually they kind of get a hint that I am not playing around and they move on.
I understand where you’re coming from and the frustration you feel. When I was just starting out in triathlon a little over a year ago, I would try to wake up early in the mornings to get a swim in before classes. I would get up even earlier than I really needed to in order to make sure that the pool regulars (not students, but townies/retired-professors) didn’t lay claim to an entire lane. There were times, however, when even though I was positioned at the end of a lane (and on one side of that lane) waiting to get in, one of the portly townies would jump/dive in on the opposite end and refuse to let me share.
Some may talk about the bad attitude and sense of superiority that many triathletes have but the truth of the matter is that the sense of entitlement and immaturity that I’ve witnessed among these people at least matches if not exceeds the triathletes’.
WTF is up with you? If they are paid-up members of the gym, then they can use the pool as they see fit, whether they meet your definition of a “real” swimmer or not.
That being said, I know how you feel. My gym has a resistance pool, and there’s always peep that pool-walk in the lap lanes. Frustrating, but then again, it’s their pool too.

Move on. Nobody gives a shit about swimming.

Actually you are right, I dont know why I even commented on this thread, I only swim like 4 times a month Plus swimming at beach is much better, the view cant be beat :))))))

what about the pool has rules, has pool etiquette clealry sign posted has lanes marked, slow fast medium etc but fut people skinny people and everything in between insist on doing everything but follow the pool rules.
Its not about us thinking that we are better than them, it sbaout using the facilities appropriately

Twice a day?? Jesus, the nerve of those fat cows, doing stuff to try to get to a better level of fitness. WTH, why don’t they just stick to sitting around on the couch eating cheetos - we all know they’ll wind up there again anyway. I mean seriously, what’s the point? And then you have to run in the heat, AND swim in the mornings?? Oh, the humanity. I weep at such injustice.
Your post makes me wonder how you think, ahh I see there are starving children in Africa so I should go down to the local pool and do whatever the heck I feel like regardless of rules or safety, if anybody complains i should sya there are starving kids in Africa you should be happy your not one of them.
Yeah that’s the way to lead your life, why not drive up the wrong side of the road, get abuse, screw thme thye should be thankful thier not starving, nice one
If they are paid-up members of the gym, then they can use the pool as they see fit
So you think the gym should allow people to just sit/stand on the cardio machines to watch the tv? Or lay down on the track to stretch/rest?
Lap pools should be for lap swimming.
This is the most lame F**king post I have ever seen. Who are the Fat people. They are thepeople who have just as much right as you do to use the pool!
Did you used to be fat or have some feeling of not being as good as others? Is that why you have the need to point out others downfall?Am I fat, NO! Never have never will. But I give those fat people trying than I do your elitest ass.
GOD I hate people who think they are better than others!
