Any Aussies here know why the two best junior males from Australia (Jack Caldwell and Jack Woodberry) are not on the list of participants for Junior Worlds? Are they both injured?
The 2 start lists for Wollongong are U23 and Elites. There is no list for Juniors at the moment. Today is declaration date and then it will be public on Friday.
Heard injured, both posted about their injuries and withdrawal on their instagram
There was a junior start list when I looked yesterday. Which had Spies and other juniors replacing the two Jacks, hence my question.
Thatâs unfortunate for them.
GTB is on the start list but not on the press release for GB-Tri. Not sure if that is a typo or if she isnât going to be racing. Doesnât make sense because the federations have to nominate their athletes.
Could be doing the t100 double?
Is running Valencia.in December
Whatâs Valencia?
Valencia Marathon 5th December
Close enough
Beth won Weihai this morning and goes into the final on equal points with Cassandra. Disappointingly small field. Think it was around 30.
Most of the Brits who raced in Weihai are going directly to Aus for prep camp. Going to be exciting race for the women!
Pity Ben Dj was ill having travelled to Weihai and had to pull out.
Beth looked very confident on the run in Weihai.

I agree, but she was racing the 2025 version of Tertsch, not the 23/24 version which wouldâve been a whole lot tighter. Run delta was (only) 21 secs here, she jogged it in. The Potter/Tertsch difference was nearly a minute in KV and 35 secs (sprint) in Frejus. Lehair and Beaugrand will match her in Australia, on the basis of this yearâs WTCS races even if Potterâs stronger this end of the season.
Good on John Reed to take advantage of an opportunity and get a podium. The US men will have some very interesting pathways to try and get a 3rd male. There are some young guys from the podium project group rising and then you got some veterans just sorta holding their own. Still a loooong way to go though (duh).

What sort of âinteresting pathwaysâ? Donât three athletes âjustâ have to get into the top 50 ranked (roughly)? Or is Olympic qualification going to be radically different. The USA will have an auto 2+2 for the MTR as hosts aiui.
Iâm going on the assumption itâs going to be like past olympic qualification models (I think it started in Rio; prior to that federations could earn spots at certain key regional title race- for the US it was the Pan Am Games until Rio qualification). Federation needs 3 athletes inside the top 30 of the olympic qualification ranking to guarantee 3 spots. I havenât heard it would change, thatâs the most logical approach that is fair to all the countries.
By interesting I mean, the US I think has a bunch of the same type of ranked athletes (they just take different pathways to get to the same finishing spots)- guys finishing generally in that 2x spot in full fields. Pearson is still the best chance for top 5 type of talent in full itu fields (he just lacks true consistency, where he could finish 4th or he could just as easily finish 38th), even though Reed is improving. So when your federation has a bunch of guys finishing 2x, you suddenly get stuck in the logjam of rankings in the 25-40th spots, where essentially no one has the ability to pop a big result to make a drastic move. For the most part, you are what you are with ability, so you generally finish around the same folks more often then not at all these races.
So Vannerson is probaly the USâs wildcard, but I donât think he has the swim yet to factor in the big boy circuit *yet (heâs also only 20).
You mean the 2025 version of Tertsch that actually won a WTSC?
Your number crunching seems a bit off here mate, CBs been missing for a while, but at the moment Potter is looking in a league of her own, weâll see in a few weeks.

Potter looked in a league of her own today because the big guns were missing. However, she opened up that lead on the first lap of the run and then dialled it back in. She deserved to be top of the podium, she has made major coaching/training changes this year which is starting to come to fruition. She has just had a month at altitude for the first time as well, which probably was a factor.
CB hasnât been missing. She had major wins earlier on in the season and had the luxury of being able to miss a couple of races to concentrate on a big block of training for Wollongong. You canât fault her for that.
If Lehair wins AND Beth is 3rd or lower AND Beaugrand isnât on the Podium Lehair is World Champion. If Lehair isnât on the podium and Beaugrand/Potter are higher than 5th it is whoever is the better of those two who is World Champion.
I want it to be Potter/Beaugrand/Lehair but I think it is going to be Beaugrand/Potter/Lehair.
Donât forget that federation shenanigans could come into play. France donât have anyone to be a domestique but if CB isnât in that lead group for whatever reason GB could drill the ride and give Beth a lead into the run. I donât think that will happen but the grand final isnât just another WTCS race for federations.
How many big guns were missing in Karlovy Vary? She won quite convincingly there too!
