This topic is buried in another thread- but can be discussed here. Tomorrow an extremely respected U.S. newspaper- the WSJ- Wall Street Journal is running with the following story- ‘Blood Brothers’. Obviously releasing this on the day of the opening prologue will sell a maximum of papers, but hopefully it doesn’t put the Tour ‘in a spot of bother’ in the words of Phil Ligget and whatever comes about from it, is dealt with after the tour and everyone is allowed to race.
wsj allows you to forward links to articles. link works for 7 days. there’s a video interview of the author- about 6 minutes or so long. the article is VERY long.
Wow - if that is the bombshell they have been saving you would have thought they would have something remotely new to tell us. Same crap recycled. Yawn.

If true, someone is going to have to break the cone of silence. If it’s Lance vs Floyd, Lance wins. If George or anyone else breaks, the wall will come down…

Landis has years of athletic journals- and it’s pretty depressing to see the time line unfold. it’s one thing to hear/read general statements about sports and doping- but downright depressing to read this type of alleged details. What was somewhat telling- historically all the cyclists/people that declined to comment- would have flat out denied any of the charges in other forms of media historically. Now that there is a federal investigation- every single athlete/person named in the story (Armstrong, Hincapie, Rubiera, Leipheimer, Bruyneel, Dr. Ferrari, and Rihs) declined to comment on the record for the WSJ. Also, Armstrong- refused to do a pre-Tour press conference- the first time he’s ever refused to talk to (anyone in) the press before the Tour. Trek’s counsel- did say on the record that they knew Postal was selling bikes and were surprised they were selling current team issue bikes that Postal riders should be riding- which Landis alleges they were being sold to fund the teams elaborate doping schemes.
The most interesting part is the ‘missing’ bikes. 60 Trek bikes go unaccounted for and then find out they are being sold for $10-$20k a pop. The article seems very credible, and I am a lance fan.
With Lance’s net worth of at least $100 million even back during the Postal days, it seems strange they would have to sell bikes to pay for doping. You’d think if he wanted to win the TdF he would pay for the doping out of his own pocket.
Almost everything in the article is based on what Landis said. The article may seem “detailed”, but it’s all based on the words of an individual who admittedly lied under oath several times and is currently seeing a therapist (presumably for psychological issues).
There is absolutely no hard evidence. This story presents nothing new. Until we see hard evidence lets not fall into the trap of believing clever story-telling.
The only statement by Landis regarding Armstrong that is clearly supported by the evidence:
same way it did for Bonds Mcgwire and that douchebag pitcher from Houston. oh yeah clemens. sorry roger i forgot your name for a second.

Lt. Lockhart: Charlie has hit every major military target in Vietnam, and hit 'em hard. In Saigon, the United States Embassy has been overrun by suicide squads. Khe Sahn is standing by to be overrun. We also have reports that a division of N.V.A. has occupied all of the city of Hue south of the Perfume River. In strategic terms, Charlie’s cut the country in half… the civilian press are about to wet their pants and we’ve heard even Cronkite’s going to say the war is now unwinnable. In other words, it’s a huge shit sandwich, and we’re all gonna have to take a bite. Private Joker: Sir… does this mean that Ann-Margret’s not coming? Lt. Lockhart: Joker… I want you to get straight up to Phu Bai. Captain January will need all his people. Private Joker: Yes, sir.
