I think the DA is going a bit overboard with the 1st degree charge. Clearly the guy was under the influence of a drug. Maybe the laws need to be amended to include acts while under the influence of voluntarily ingested substances may be 1st degree murder.

I’ve shroomed a few times, even picking them myself, ex and acid along the early years as well and I had a damn good time. no fights, more me and my female (dancer) friends running through the house in our underwear all “tickling” each other, them trying on and modeling swimsuits at 4 in the morning at walmart for me, all of us drinking strawberry sodas. good times!
took hydro shrooms (x’s 20 vs regular shrooms) and went swimming in galveston, once. I was thinking that a great white shark bred with Godzilla was gonna get me after i was out past the sandbar and so i got out of the water quick after that thought crept in.
I’ve never had a bad trip but I have been scared and yes, if one wrong thought creeps into your mind you can easily be screwed, scared and whatnot and have not a memory of anything while it’s happening but you can piece back the night after you come down, even if only in stages.
btw, we’re talking well over 13-14 years ago for me, late teens and as we all know, I’m just fine now…

I’m glad I’m not the only one who had a difficult time following the story. Sometimes it amazes me to see the articles that get published.
the article is from a local paper up North (reprinted in my local paper). the “up North” area included Humboldt…so, you can imagine what the writer was probably smoking before, during and after writing the article.

I didn’t get that. Old tripping / drinking stories are usually more about fond recollection than anything. The amusement factor is also part of the purpose of the story.
I think in the case of this article, though drugs are never safe, WHO takes the drugs makes a big difference.

i was trying to imply that unless your mind is really out there then the types of murderous actions taken by the MMA guy are not typical. people have fun with their friends for the most part, not go kill people.
