Would you ask your friends to vote for your adult child in a racy photo contest?

I don’t think I am being a stuffy old fogy here, but, tell me if I am wrong. No, it isn’t my kid. No, I will not link to the pictures.

I have a female friend on Facebook who is about my age (48). She has a daughter who is, I believe, 25-26. Her daughter is in a contest for Inked Magazine to be a cover-girl. Inked Magazine is a tattoo magazine that features scantily-clad tattooed women.

My friend posted a link to the contest on her Facebook page. She mentioned that her daughter has “worked really hard” to get here and really wants to win. So, she wants all her friends to vote for her daughter. The link takes you go the contest photo-shoot, which is in a graveyard. A couple pictures show her in a crop top and skin-tight jeans. But, most are in sexy underwear … posing in the graveyard. Her daughter is not unattractive, but, is a “thicker” girl. A couple pictures have her bending over in a thong, which, honestly, isn’t the best look. One picture is full nude, peaking out from behind a gravestone.

Now, would I want my daughter to pose in her underwear? No, but, I wouldn’t lose my mind over it. She is an adult. But, I just cannot see coming on ST and linking those pictures for all of you sleeze-dogs to oggle over. Likewise, if my daughter was a Victoria’s Secret model, I would be very proud of her, but, would not post her underwear pictures here to draw attention to them.

I find the entire thing very odd. Wifie says the same. It seems like pimping out your daughter. Also, what is the appropriate response to my friend? Am I out of line telling her her daughter has a nice rack?

The truth; your words said it best already.

Soooo…you won’t link a pic and you’re ‘asking for a friend’? Hmmm… ; )

I think it’s creepy that she’s asking. That said, I can see a Mom doing this more so than a Dad. I wouldn’t appreciate my daughter’s promoting pics of them in a thong bending over and I certainly wouldn’t promote it to my friends and/or family.

Just ignore it
.

At that age many parents have moved on from that traditional mom-daughter dynamic. I don’t think it’s that strange. Obviously mom is like-minded and might pose that way herself if she could pull it off. Living vicariously, maybe?

Agree.

The appropriate response to your friend is no response.

Yep. If dad was doing it, I would be a little creeped out. For some reason, it seems “better” that mom is doing it, but, I still don’t get it.

That is one of the best problems I have ever heard of. I laughed for a good minute. I cannot wait for you to decide on a course of action. BTW where is the link? No pics or it didn’t happen.

I thought of that. Might be.

That’s what I did the first round. She is on the next round, so, the Facebook requests have started up again. I’ll stay the course.

So…she’s not a kid, hasn’t been for the better part of a decade, is posing for a nationally circulated magazine, you call this woman a friend, and she asked you to help, and you’re refusing to post a link?

Seriously, be a good friend and post the damn link already. I’ll toss her a vote.

Maybe she thinks she can get paid like Kris Jenner.

Yeah, wifie isn’t on Facebook, so, I showed it to her when it first popped up. I asked her if I was being a prude. Again, this isn’t about the pictures. It is about mom asking friends to votes for daughter in the pictures. Wifie assured me I wasn’t being a prude, but, I get all my information from ST, so, I had to come here …

She should have used a higher resolution camera
.

I’m sure if you were motivated you could find figure it out based upon the clues given in his post.

I’m not motivated.

I would overlook it too.

Man at first I thought this was a JSA twisted attack on my links… So with 3 daughters in the upper teen lower 20’s range. Having posted links to things of there’s.

Uhm no.

And I think we have a good enough relationship to tell them, those are not flattering pics… from what you describe.

VS model, yeah probably still not sharing.

For a minute there I thought this was the ‘Help my daughter’ thread.

Like other posters have said I’d ignore the 2nd & subsequent rounds as well.

Nice eyes.

If you are going to be modeling, you are going to be out there in photoshoots anyway. It is likely that the parents are desensitized to the bathing suit pictures. if nothing else, from seeing their daughter in bathing suites/prior modelling pics/etc. So for them, its not the first time seeing them.

I had friends that used to model. At first all of their pictures seemed strange. Like imagine seeing pictures of guys in runway shoes, where the stuff doesnt look like real clothes you would actually wear. Overtime making fun of them for the sillyness of their attire lost its meaning. Not too different from feeling self conscious wearing bike shorts in public. This is prob similar here. “We have seen our daughter numerous of times in bathin suit shoots, these have been in magazines, so they have been looked at by numerous people anyway.”
