I know you just couldnt resist that, but actually I had the same thought as Matt - that the increasing mechanization of the Army puts a little more metal in between bullets and soldiers.

I would agree with him also. It’s very different circumstances to fight a war in a desert (or the cities) than in the jungles of vietnam. So comparing the two really isn’t all that valid. However, much of what we have learned in Vietnam with respect to battlefield medicine has been refined and improved upon to get where we are today.
