This dude applied for a position in my restaurant today. I am all for innovation but seriously???

You got to interview him and show us a photo of what he’s wearing
.
I suppose he just wanted to set himself apart. Which he did. Too bad he did so in a negative way.
I love it!!!
Someone who cared enough to go to the trouble of creating this deserves a shot!
I guarantee the 99.9% of other resumes that you see will be the same BS boring drivel.
Hire this Mofo!
I bet Chef Vince would like him. You should totally interview him.
I love it!!!

Wish I could see it. Whatever your hosting site is, it’s blocked by the firewall here at work.
I love shitty resumes.

BUT, what does the Y axis mean!?!?!
That is a good question. Intensity of job/training?
BUT, what does the Y axis mean!?!?!
According to the heading it’s an area plot of “effort versus enjoyment over time”. I’m guessing the top reflects effort put in and the bottom represents enjoyment. Which of course would lead one to believe that if you hired him he would put in zero effort and have a really good time ![]()

"I’m guessing the top reflects effort put in and the bottom represents enjoyment. "
The top side is labeled “Academics” and the bottom is "Employment.
Good news is he expects to work twice as hard and enjoy himself twice as much as he did as when he was a waterski instructor, and almost 4 times as much as when he was a crayfish boat deck hand. Super.
What position was he applying for?
I was going to point out that he did a stint as a deck hand on a commercial crab fishing vessel, but upon closer inspection it was a cray fishing gig which is orders of magnitude less awesome. Also, I had no idea that Club Med was still in business.
He was shooting for a bar or server position.
Pass.
To all those who think this is innovative and interesting, I have hundreds of applicants for 30ish jobs. Readability in a resume is essential, even when it is innovative. Each resume gets about a 15 second glance before I decide if it gets chucked or if I need to spend more time on it. I do give him points for originality but I got bogged down trying to figure it out and he does not have enough experience for the positions I need filled anyway.
If there are no costs involved with the interview, I’d say go for it! I’d be dying to meet him and see what he’s like.
Top portion is education.
Bottom portion is employment. Looks like he has worked his way through college.
He loves snowboarding and wants a trabajo at the Sante Bar and Grille where he will make a lot of new friends.
Seems like as good of an attempt as any to obscure the fact that he had no experience.
I suspect you would have even given him less consideration if he had submitted a traditional resume that still showed his lack of experience.
At least he was honest. I suspect a good number of people applying for a server position lie about their experience. Which, when you consider the fact that it’s unlikely to be a long-term position anyway, is a logical strategy.
With due respect for your decision, I think you should at least interview him. I’ve spent plenty of time in the hospitality industry and it struck me that the most successful people therein were those with superior organizational and personal skills. Looks like this guy may have both.
his resume is ‘interviewing’ you as well - your restaurant is too ass-tight for a fellow like this. You are right in passing

Nice conclusion. Let’s see … our server experience requirement is a minimum of 3 years, and bar work is usually five. That is North American service style. Aussie servers need to be completely detrained and retrained. So if it is “ass-tight” to not waste my time interviewing someone who does not come close to the required level of experience then guilty as charged.
As someone who is in their 30th year in the food and beverage industry, I think I have it figured out already.
I heard those Aussies were a bunch of lazy criminals anyway. You made the right decision. Next thing you know he would have stolen all the booze from the bar and had sex with your wife.
