World's Toughest Course - Wow!

Spent the day riding and running the course for World’s Toughest Half in Auburn. Man!..I think a lot of people are going to explode in the 1st 20 miles of the bike…actually… climbing out from the water to the swim/bike transition will be enough to kill me!
Ran into the Brad-man and there will be some changes to the run course due to construction of the new dam. Looks like we might have the pleasure of climbing the dam wall a meer 6-miles into the run instead of gut-it-out and then you’re finished! Now that is what I call tough!

Still can’t decide if I should ride the disk in this race. It sure would be nice for the last 20 miles, but not ideal for the first 35. I have the new light Zipp 909 setup…any suggestions??

Brad is a pretty cool guy.

Good article by Kraig Willet that might be applicable to your decisionto run the disc.

Thanks Cerveloguy,
Great article. I was leaning toward the disk, and now I’m certain about it.

Dam wall at 6 miles in? How would that work? That pretty much means the run to Cool is off the menu, doesn’t it?

I think the explosion will come later than the 1st 20 miles - I think lots of people will detonate at around mile 52 after the bridge crossing when you hit the 8% grade for 1 mile on the way back in to Auburn - on what will be cold legs.
