World duathlon info?

Ok, so other than securing a spot ;-), what’s involved with going to the WC? If you are top 12 in Richmond do you have to decide immediately, has the entry fee been decided, anyone know how long after the race the rolldown meeting is, etc, etc.

Thanks,
Shawn

I have the same questions. I usually just wait and then seem to find out way closer to the event than I’d prefer…

my experience (2006 LC tri nats/worlds, 2007 LC du nats/worlds) has been this: no rolldown meeting per se…if you’re in the rolldown window, you sign up with the friendly USAT reps at the race and wait for the auto slot deadline to pass for those first 12 folks at which time USAT will contact you. that contact can be extremely short-fused, as in 24hrs to make a decision and get your entry in on active.com or wherever they decide to do it for Team USA this year. suggest strongly that whatever contact info you give when you sign up be something or someone that can get to you whenever-wherever. I seem to remember complaints in the past about folks who didn’t open up their email until the day after they’d been contacted and being passed over because of it.

USAT says on their website that if you are top 12 in AG, they will email you within one week after the Richmond race to confirm your desire for a WC slot. My understanding therefore, is that the rolldown will not take place at the awards ceremony which is scheduled for 3pm.
Entry fee they say is $200 and uniforms about $150.

Thanks,
I looked at the USAT website and didn’t see anything. can you point me to the proper place?

I am sure it will be something similar for Nationals, but here is what happened with the first qualifier, Desert Classic in Phoenix:

race date was Sunday February 22nd, automatic qualifiers were given 14 days (until Thursday March 12th) to accept and pay for their slot.

Thursday February 26th got an email from USAT asking if one became available, would I be interested in a roll down slot (I placed 4th in AG, top 3 got automatic slots)

Responded yes and got a responseback within 24 hours

Friday March 13 got notification that I qualified for a roll down slot and had one week (till Friday March 20th) to register on the website and pay the $300 fee (entry + Team USA fee), does not include uniform fee (no info on that yet)

accepted and paid

It seems that they have the process pretty streamlined at this point.
