Workout music

the transformation has been completed. i’ve gone from Steppenwolf, The Doors, J.Geils, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Manfred Mann, etc. to…

The Offspring, Third Eye Blind, The Ataris, Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, Puddle of Mudd, The Cure, Chili Peppers, Linkin Park…

and i don’t know where it will end. otherwise, i’d just like to add that stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on.

Hey Slowman…do a hunt for some stuff by Prozzak as well. Primarily their HotShow album. And if you feel like being funky try and locate something by Herbie. Only one album out…called Fingers. Otherwise…good choices.

How about this transformation>> I went from Metallica to Baby Einstein for my treadmill and trainer workouts at home. I guess it better than WAAAAA, WAAAAA!

Try the soundtrack to Grind. It’s got a few tracks that will get you pumped. Be warned, though: It will also make you want to go buy a new skateboard.

I just got Maroon 5 ‘Songs About Jane’ … cool mellow white boy funk … perfect for long slow runs … in the process of downloading it to the iPod.

All good stuff! Since it seems like you came from a ‘heavier stuff’ background, check out the Tragically Hip - specifically, ‘Day for Night’…heavy duty guitar/bass/drums and incredible lyrics. If you want a different sorta thing, how 'bout some Morphine - their album ‘Yes’ is fantastic! Cool sound, and without a guitar (they’re sax/drums/BIG bass).

I feel ridiculous for saying this, but Fat Boy Slim is really perfect for CT workouts. If only I could play both a CD & DVD at the same time on my system, I could watch the Tour with perfect music to keep a high cadence.

Though I don’t ENJOY the music, really, - I mean, I wouldn’t buy a CD - the black urban stations sometimes have good music for running. Again, good cadence, though embarrasing to admit it. Yes, I use headphones when I run. Hate to run without them … my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard…

Ha!

I’ve been taken by The Wiggles and Barney At The Zoo in recent months.

For me NOTHING beats that “Red Neck, Rock and Roll, Son of Detroit” Kid Rock!

something aggressive. either hardcore, swedish metal or death metal. in those genres i’d say hatebreed, the haunted or at the gates and nile.

so, who / when will someone start burning and selling CDs for workouts? customize them to the legnth and type of workout.

we’ve come a long way from ‘records’…

I guess that will be next for her. shes only 5 months so Einstein is her fave and definately keeps her attention. Its fine with me, as long I could run/ride without interruption. I’ll probably have to get an MP3 to replace my HiFi.

Just remember, after the boys of summer are gone, when you’re dreaming of californication, and stacey’s mom pops up in your mind (and you know you want to hit that), you best keep fishin’, becuase she is mine, and you better think twice before you touch my girl, that is of course, only if you haven’t become numb to my threats.

Till then, keep suffering from that “i’m 16 and mad at my father” syndrome. Next thing you know, you’re gonna change your screen name to rubberbandman and start representin’ the struggle. time to roll out.

I’ve plugged them on this board before, and I’ll do it again: The Datsuns.

If you’re a fan of classic heavy metal, yet find that you can also stomach modern pop/punk, then check out these garage-rockin’ Kiwis.

the datsuns aint heavy metal!!! theyre rock. they come from my hometown…i went to primary school with their singer. heh. his sis is pretty cute…

I hereby second that emotion, Mr. Tibbs.

fulla: Didn’t say they were “heavy metal.” But I do think you can easily hear influence of everything from AC/DC to Zeppelin on their CD.

Any word on when their next CD is due to come out? I read somewhere that John Paul Jones is producing it (speaking of Zepp).

nah i wouldnt have a clue when their next release is out.

yeah ac/dc influence is real apparent. gotta love acker dacker! ithey are their fave band…cambridge (where theyre from) was full of people into ac/dc.

The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s … The Rapture … The Liars … !!! … all of it is somewhat groovy dance-able garagish punky type stuff … really good higher energy workout music.

The Flaming Lips, Neutral Milk Hotel, Sparklehorse, The Shins, Modest Mouse, … trippier dreamier great for LSD (the workout not the drug) …

and for the love of Cobain, please torch all nu metal such as POD / puddle of mud / nickleback / etc. … they do a poor imitation of grunge-metal and are as tired as they are similar!

The J. Geils Bank Live is one of the all time great albums…

No Doubt is cool to workout too…just picture Gwen in her little belly shirts while you ride!
