When does WKO4 come out?

Never it seems…

Had a twitter exchange with them recently. I asked for the over/under on a 2014 release and they wouldn’t give me that or an ETA.
I’m betting on over 13 months late with a 2015 Q1 delivery, late Q1.

Are you using TP premium currently?

I have a Mac so WKO 3 won’t work, and garmin connect’s scheduling isn’t ideal.

Any other options out there?

Any other options out there?I use a Mac with WKO 3.0. It works fine with parallels.

Yeah, but then I would have parallels just for one program. I’d rather have a native mac friendly solution.

No I’m using 2 computers. I was an idiot and bought a mac when it appeared it was coming out. Not I’ve got all my coaching stuff on the mac and do all my file analysis on the pc w/wko3. It’s sooooo awesome travelling with 2 computers, I can’t even being to tell you how much f*cking fun that is. I fully blame TP

Wasn’t WKO+ 4 renamed Golden Cheetah?

But Dr Andrew Coggan did 3 webinars all about it. It was being sold as imminent.

Where is it? Copyright issues? Didn’t Coggan get stuff removed from face twatter on copyright grounds?

Where is it and why is it delayed?

I’d spin up a virtual machine on the mac. No way I’d travel with 2 computers!

I tell TSA one computer contains the plans to the Death Star. They usually fall for it and I get a free soda and sandwich why they figure out which computer. When the FBI guys show up they usually get a chuckle at TSA falling for it…again.

The minute it’s released it will be outdated.

Yeah, but then I would have parallels just for one program. I’d rather have a native mac friendly solution.but that native solution might cost the same as parallels and windows. WKO is also the only thing i run on it, and been doing that for 5 years now without any problems so it was worth the expense.

Christ TP is the same company that can’t calculate TSS on planned workouts for you even though they have all the necessary inputs and they are simple formulas.
But serious question here, the only allure of wko 4 is that it is supposed to work on a Mac right?

When does WKO4 come out?

Whenever it comes out. It has been very clear over the years that WKO+ is the red headed foster child of the Training Peaks family. It has been my thoughts that the WKO+, compared to the Training Peaks website, is a small revenue stream and therefore is poorly resourced. If you look at the features which were added in WKO+ 3.0 (released Dec 2009, from v2.2) it was not a very impressive upgrade and has not seen a single features added since. Hopefully version 4.0 redeems and becomes well supported.

But serious question here, the only allure of wko 4 is that it is supposed to work on a Mac right?YOu can do these yourself in excel. That’s what I do, I estimate TSS for all training sessions in my training plan when working up to a big race, and plot CTL, ATL and TSB. Every day I then overwrite the estimated with the actual number.

This allows me to see any potential risks upfront, i.e. if a TSB would become too negative for too long, or it also helps me modify my training schedule if something comes up (like business travel or so).

I have a spreadsheet as well that I use. So it can’t be hard to do. It’s just a pain in the ass to do it in two places. If I’m writing out my workouts in the calendar TP should be able to estimate TSS.

Once you’ve done enough workouts, you can pretty much take a pretty reasonable guess at what the TSS will be without calculating it. Especially the run. An easy run for me lands right at 8 TSS/mi. Faster intervals 9-10/mi. I know the rough per hour TSS for cycling based on the IF planned.

the only allure of wko 4 is that it is supposed to work on a Mac right?Mac support is not the main draw, at least not for most people. It has a bunch of new algorithms, like a new power-duration model.

I am a bit like Desert Dude in that I now have a MAC but also use the Windows machine for WKO. I only bought the MAC when the news that WKO 4 was coming out and it was MAC compatible :frowning: Its a real PITFA.

I have no parallels on my MAC I don’t think. Infact never heard of them or used them???

Anycase I got told that Golden Cheeta is MAC compatible, so I am currently checking that out. I don’t think it will help with all the WKO files I have but it might be a good idea for new Clients to get them up and running on the MAC.

What a mess I have gotten myself into…
