WKO file to Garmin Connect

My IMFL ride file got a little screwy when the volunteer hit start in T2. I want the file in Garmin Connect, but it wouldn’t initially import for some weird reason. WKO+ imported the ride file just fine, and I managed to clean it up, trimming off all the dead space at the end. (which cannot be done in GC)

The problem is that I now can’t export it into a format that works right with Garmin Connect. Well, I can export it as a GPX, but the heart rate data is gone.

So WKO+ supports exporting it as:
.wko, .csv (powertap format), .hrm (polar), .txt (SRM format - no heart rate), .pwx, or .gpx (no heart rate)

And Garmin Connect supports importing as:
.tcx, .gpx, or .fit

So I’ve been trying to convert between multiple formats, and every time, Garmin Connect just won’t accept what I try to feed it. I’ve tried various online tools.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get this thing from WKO+ and into Garmin Connect with all the data fields?

Thanks.

Would like to know as well. I have the same issue with my files from Rev3 Anderson.

I would try golden cheetah, or how about Training peaks to Garmin connect transfer ?

Ok, I tried it again, and this time, it worked fine. So weird.

From WKO+, I opened up the workout, and went to File >> Export Copy As >> and exported it as a PWX.

Then, I went to the website:
http://www.pwx2gpx.com/

Converted that PWX to a Garmin GPX file. I think I previously tried a TCX, and Garmin Connect wouldn’t accept it.

Then I went to Garmin Connect, and to my amazement, it finally accepted the ride file, in GPX format.

Hopefully this will help you and anyone else who Google’s this in the future.

Ooh, Golden Cheetah is a pretty good idea. I actually tried Training Peaks, but I couldn’t download it in a different format from what I uploaded it as. But I managed to get it working using the PWX, so crisis averted. Thanks for the input.

Are you talking about http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ ? I tried it multiple times, and could not get it to work no matter what I tried. The resulting file would never get accepted by GC.

I use the stanalone program

Yeah, I saw that one too. But… Totally not worth $50 to fix a single file.

your using a garmin, there will be many others

you can send me your file if you want and i can edit it for you

Thanks Neil. If I come across something major in the future I might ping you. I’ve always been able to fix it by tweaking the xml from TCX files, but this particular file was being a beast.

I tried GoldenCheetah just for fun to see if it would work and Garmin Connect came up with the ‘unidentified’ error after uploading. The http://www.pwx2gpx.com/ website worked fine. Thanks to both of you.

Hi Andrew,

I’m a little slow, what did you try?
GoldenCheetah doesn’t support upload to GarminConnect but can read WKO+ and write TCX.
Did the generated TCX get rejected by Garmin Connect ?

Thanks
Mark

Mark – correct, I did a write to TCX and it was rejected by Garmin Connect.
