Wireless/Bluetooth Sports Headphones

My trusty Sony MDR-AS50G bit the dust this week and I am looking for a replacement set of headphones. I really liked this headset but one thing that always bothered me when running was the cord. I could never get it, and keep it, in a spot where it wasn’t distracting and flailing all over the place.

I did a quick search for cordless/wireless/blutooth headphones and came up with the following options.

Jabra Sport
Jaybird Freedom Sprint
Motorola S10-HD

Have any of you used these headphones and if so what are your thoughts on them? Are there any headphones that I should add to this list and consider?

I have been using the Sony NWZ-W262 and love them.

I’ve been using these for about 6 weeks.

Very small and light. I’ve tried most of the bluetooth headphones for running and most of them don’t fit very well and will cutout if the phone isn’t on your arm. I carry my phone in a small waist belt on my back and have never had a cutout with these. The downside is the 4 hour battery life - a little short, but these are so small it is an OK tradeoff. $99

I’m looking too and came across these?

Has anyone used the Jaybirds ($95)?

or the Jabra Sport ($69)

I have an older pair of JayBirds (not blue tooth) and love them.

Been working out with them for over a year with no issues. The ear buds stay tight even without earloops.

How long does the battery last on the Jaybirds?

I’ve been using the Jaybirds for over a year for both running and riding on the trainer. I love them. Super comfortable, easy to use, long battery >2 hrs (I’ve never tried using them for longer without charging).

No problem running with my Iphone in my pocket or syncing to my computer (10ft away) while on my bike.

They also allow you to take a call from your phone. Very nice when running.

I use these, love 'em, and they don’t fall out of your ears nor flail around.

I use the Jaybirds Freedom bluetooth Love em. Cancels out other noises. Comfy. Clear sound. Battery lasts for at least 4 hours. I even purchased a bluetooth transmitter (okay, I have 3 of those) that I plug in to a TV so the Wife doesn’t have to hear the noise while I train.

these are great and Bestbuy in canada carries them

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/rocketfish-rocketfish-hd-stereo-bluetooth-headphones-rf-mab2-rf-mab2-t/10138718.aspx $49 is not bad.

battery lasts forever. Volume control, forward song, reverse on the headset. I have my iPhone in my pocket, no reception problems.

I have a pair of the Motorolla S10-HD’s and I am very happy with them. I have not ran with 'em in the rain (yet), however they seem to handle sweat okay. I use mine sporadically, so I can’t quote battery life figures as I don’t exactly keep track. IMO the fidelity is great and they have more low end than I was expecting. I listen to pretty much everything under the sun with regards to music (thank you internet radio!) and I would say these sound great with all genres. I use these with an mp3 player, so I can’t speak to call quality tx or rx.

These are my first bluetooth earphones so I can’t compare them to anything else, but I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I’ve got the Jaybird Freedoms (larger ones) and have put over 1,500 miles running on them and hundreds of hours on the trainer. First pair I haven’t killed with sweat in the first month of owning.

I tuck the cord up into my visor/hat strap outside and into headband on treadmill but its not too bad if loose.

Battery life on the big ones is ~5-6 hours. Sprint is about 3 I think. I love 'em.

x2 or 3 or whatever. These are great.

I have done a full review of the Jabra Sport and have been currently testing the Jaybird Freedom Sprint Earphones. The Jabra Sport lost connection easily compared to the Jaybirds. Keep in mind I have only tested the Jaybirds for about 2 weeks and will be for a couple more before writing my review. The Jabra Sport also will tell you low battery every 5 minutes once it gets to a certain level and then every 30 seconds when it gets even lower. I wanted to throw them out at about this point. Both are east to use and the radio setting on the Jabra was good when I wanted to give up because of connection issues. With the Jabra there was no way I could have my iPhone in a pocket or at my waist level, I could with the Jaybird. Here is the link to my full review of the Jabra:

Jaybird review is coming. Feel free to ask any questions you wish.

Any update on the Jaybird review?

I have used both the Jaybirds and the Motorola headphones.

I am on my 5th or 6th Motorola headphones. Kill them in about a month. I really like them but the sweat kills them quickly.

The Jaybirds - dont really like the chord that they have. Bounces all over the place and I do not usually wear a hat to tuck it into…

I like my OT bluetooth tags, I use them at work. They’re secure and running would work just fine too. I’m thinking of getting another set for watching movies while on the trainer. The cord is great and long enough that you can wear them around your neck when not using them. http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=27804

Though for the office as well as for outdoor activities, I’d LOVE to find some BT headphones that are not of the in-ear kind. Any recommendations from the crowd? I really do not like being isolated from the outside world like all the in-ear earphones do.

I have had 2 pairs of S-10 and continue to use them primarily for running, sometimes cycling (I appreciate that it isn’t recommended). Fit and sound quality are great for me, I sweat a lot and they are ultra resistant and hardly show any sign of wear. I sit on them regularly by accident and never had an issue. Battery life isn’t the greatest, but I have a car charger and just need to remember to charge them back every other day or so. Controls aren’t the easiest to access, but it gets easier with use and over time.

I would recommend them

I have the larger Jaybird Freedom. They work perfect with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and spotify. I keep the Samsung in my right rear jersey pocket and have had no problem. My only complaint is no matter what, I only get 4.5 hours of straight battery time. It might last longer if shorter sessions and in between charges.

x2 on the JayBirds. Battery life is around 5 hrs. I have had to be really careful w/ the earbuds since they will fall off if something catches them in my gear bag. They aren’t loose by any means but will come off if they catch something.
