Winter running pants (1)

I’ve been running in a pair of Nike Stormfit running pants for years. They have been fantastic, but they are reaching the end of their life and I need something new before winter is here the next 6 months.

I live in frickin’ cold northern new york and need a good pair of winter running pants.

Here are a couple I’m considering:

Craft® Storm Tights

Brooks® Thermal Visibility Pants

Thanks for your suggestions.

Doug

Doug, style is highly subjective so you may not be happy with my suggestion.

When I was a Minnesota boy I found that I could run in every winter weather situation with a pair of wind-proof nylon outer pants…$15 things with no lining, just an elastic waist. Then under that is the insulating layer. Very cold I’d use $7 cotton sweat pants; moderately cold cotton thermal underwear; reasonably warm (above freezing) perhaps a pair of lycra tights.

This covered it all winter…even 30 below F.

Of those choices, I’d go with the Craft tights. But I’m a cheap SOB, and I run in

Good to well below 0, and only $70.

Regular lycra is good down to about 20.

Sporthill “Voyager”. Several sizes, including length for short or tall people.

I’m trying to get some of these

I hear they are the dogs bollocks for the cold dry winter weather.

I have plenty of De Soto stuff so I know it’s great quality. for some reason there aren’t any XL sizes which is causing me some stress. I’m just too long legged for the large.

you are correct - there is no too cold for those Desoto fleece tights. Altough, that is actually one of their problems - I can’t wear them unless it is really cold!

No problem here, it gets down to -40 degrees c in the winter and I run until -30 so they should be perfect, hint , hint Emilio.

Do you want to try out a pair of Pearl Izumi Amfib running tights slightly used. Your cost==shipping. They were mistakenly purchased as tights to wear over your bibs in the winter (the cut is way too short for cycling).

PM’d you
.

DeSoto fleece for sure. I use them to run here in Minnesota. I also use them as a base layer for skiing in the mountains of CO & UT. They are very warm and also very comfortable. If Mr. DeSoto is reading this maybe he’ll send me another pair of large fleece for the free plug. You really can’t go wrong, I highly recommend them.

I have really been pleased with the Hind Drylete Xpt running pants. Been wearing them for several years now with no issues.

DeSoto fleece tights. I ran in them when I was in New York last Xmas…warm:)

I’m a cheap bastard, and really like the C9 brand at Target. I was there yesterday, and noticed they had some really nice running tights for under $20.

Pretty happy with these. Been running with them in the low/mid 30s. Very comfortable, breathable…

I really, really love my asics thermopolis tights (they also have a pair of sporthill-type track pants, for you dudes who are all self conscious and stuff, but I don’t think they are as warm, in general). They are lightweight, and good for 30+…but also good when it is well below zero.

I’ve been using a different Nike running pant for the past few winters in Boston. If it gets super cold I can throw another layer under them.

I used just the typical Under Armour Cold Weather Tights last year. I used them both for running and riding while in South Korea, believe it or not the winters are fairly cold there. A couple days down in the teens and the UA gear held up just fine. If I remember correctly they were only $35-45 and have been great.

Mizuno Breath Thermo…check em out.

hello,

We sold out of our first production run of Fleece Tights already, but we are making more and are due to be done by the end of the month.

Try them on once and you will never want to take them off. These cozy double-sided fleece tights are made of Polartec® Powerstretch™. This material is very breathable and offers warmth without much weight. It is wind and abrasion-resistant, and is machine washable without pilling. The tights have improved contour stitching, for a more comfortable fit and flattering look. The drawstring elastic waist is made of nylon Lycra, and is low cut for a better fit for both men and women.
