I’m in the market for a new pair of winter bib tights. Specifically need something for temps from 20-35F and would prefer some cargo pockets. So far the two best options I’ve found are Rapha Cargo Winter Tights and PedalEd Odyssey Tights. I’m a Rapha fan and have a couple pairs of their cargo bib shorts so I have a general idea what to expect in terms of fit and quality, but I have no experience with PedalEd. Anyone have any experience with their stuff and specifically the Odyssey tights?
I’m open to other suggestions as well, I just haven’t found many options with pockets that are built for true winter riding.
I can’t comment specifically on Rapha’s tights with a cargo pocket, but I have their Pro winter tights (with pad) and they are pretty great. For me, around 35 degrees they might be slightly too warm if it’s sunny and dry. They are the tights that I choose on the worst days of riding.
I got mine one year during their end of year sale. I don’t think i could drop $300 on tights when there are a lot of other great options for less. For example, Giordana FR-C stuff is awesome. I have the FR-C knickers and absolutely love them. I just checked and unfortunately they don’t have any tights with cargo pockets. You used to be able to get either 20% or 25% off your first order with the code “podcast” at Giordanacycling.com but I’m not sure if that expired yet.
edit: i just checked the discount code and it’s expired now
I have zero need for cargo pockets when assos winter jacket has all the pockets I need. I did get 2 pairs of these because I love the wind protection on the knees being a sleeve/cover that doesn’t interfere with pedaling: https://www.sportful.com/se/men/collections/fiandre/p/112150121A-002
as good if not better than the Assos version that are $60 more.
I’ve used Ibex wool bib knickers for many years. They work great in the rain (Seattle) and the frigid desert mornings (Phoenix). The flexible knee material is great. I usually wear a tri-short beneath for that extra wind-protection for the pork and beans.

Thanks for the info, I will check out Giordana. Good to hear you like the Rapha tights - I’m leaning in that direction since I’ve always had good luck with their stuff.
pearl izumi’s am fib tights have worked great for me. They sell them with and without chamois. No pockets though. I rocked their am fib pants nearly every day last winter, my impression was that they’re even warmer than the tights. They have zippered pockets and a fly, I thought those were nice to have. I did have to add suspenders to the pants.
24 degrees american this morning. Wore the pants with fleecy knickers underneath (also P.I.) That combo is right for me from ~10 to 30F. It’s warm on the 30 degree end, because I can go with the knickers alone and thick wool sox at 35-40.
