Will my Garmin HRM-Tri survive another battery change?!

Wish me luck as I am about to change the battery in my HRM-Tri for the 3rd time. Yes you read that right… I’ve run 2 different batteries down on a single strap!

So now it’s on to battery #3. The previous 2 straps I have owned did not last very long into their first battery change, so I am quite impressed.

How many fresh batteries have you put into your garmin strap before it died?

On my older hard strap I’ve gone through 7 or 8 batteries.

On my HRM Tri I’m on my second.

Best of luck. My first and only lasted 1 battery cycle. I switched to the Wahoo tickr X and no issues through 1.5 batteries.

I’ve replaced mine twice, so I’m on my 3rd battery, though admittedly, its on its last legs.

How are you storing the band after cleaning it? I went through batteries quickly on mine, too quickly compared to my other Garmin straps. I noticed that after rinsing off the band I let it dry contact area down on a towel. This may have continued to make the band active. Now I let it dry contact surface up and haven’t had to change the battery in a while.

So funny I JUST put 3rd battery in today! It barely worked w stripped screws and a seal that may not hold.

The battery is in now and it does work - but for how long I’m not sure!

3??

I am on at least 15, possibly 20 or more on my HRM Tri from Sept 2015. The screws are fine, the seal is fine, but the actual belt is not looking great

I switched to Polar H10 and have never looked back!

ANT+ and BT for Zwift on Apple TV and/or garmin watch.
Super accurate, even at the start of a workout.
HRV Testing…this has been a game changer for me in learning more about how I respond to training and life.
SUPER easy and quick to change batteries.
You can remove the electronic pod from the strap to clean the strap better, and eventually when the strap gets older, you can just change the strap instead of buying a whole new unit…gee imagine that Garmin!
(Oh right, they used to do that too until they realized they can make more money by forcing people to change the entire thing when the strap gets worn out.)

There are alternatives to Garmin and we as a community are responsible for how glitchy/cheap/unreliable Garmin is allowed to be since we still buy Garmin products en mass without considering other choices!

More than on the Vector 3 pedals.
😖😖😖🤬🤬🤬

I assure you it will work just fine…until you need it for a race…mine only fail during races.

I switch to a Wahoo chest strap a year and a half ago. So much better than the Garmin strap!

I have one of the old removable modules that has had countless battery changes and an HRM-Tri that has had 3. First thing I always do is remove the screws and put a dab of silicone grease on them. Keeps them from getting ganged up. And always rinse and hang to dray after use.

Wahoo chest strap 2.5 years didn’t even know you could change the battery
.

Mine has gone through 2 changes…still kicking.

Good luck…

Add me to the group who’s HRM-Tri has just up and quit. No cracks, not stripped threads, no nicked O-ring, no sign of water entry; everything seems fine. Fool me once, Garmin, shame on me… fool me twice… well let’s just say I’ve been fooled by Garmin several times now.
