Will a Timex HR Strap work with a Garmin 500

This may seem like an odd question, but my family just bought me a Timex Ironman with a Heart Rate Monitor (and strap) will that strap be compatible with the Garmin 500 computer that I have on my bike?

I can’t say for the Garmin 500, but I bought my wife an old Timex Ironman watch with HRM and the strap works with my Garmin 910xt. I believe there is an ANT+ compatibility chart somewhere, but I don’t have the link.
